이탁오의 ｢동심설｣의 교육적 논의

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 16세기 명나라 사상계를 대표하는 이탁오 선생의 문학론이자 인성론인 ｢동심설｣을 교육적으로 논의했다. 예비적으로 먼저 탁오의 파란만장하면서 구도자적인 삶을 일별하고, 그가 남긴 저술을 살펴보았다. 다음으로 탁오의 ｢동심설｣을 1) 동심찬미, 2) 동심상실, 3)동심구현의 세 측면에서 분석․검토했다. 본격적으로 ｢동심설󰡕에 대한 교육적 논의를 함에 있어서는 1) 사람교육, 2) 삶의 주인공, 3) 글공부 넘어서기 세 가지 각도로 나누어 접근되었다. 이러한 논의한 결과로, 1) 동심은 절대적으로 옹호해야 할 인간의 선한 본성이다. 2) 동심의 옹호는 아동존중의 실천이다. 3) 부모와 교사의 정신은 정직하고 순수해야 한다. 4) 누구나 솔직한 자기 목소리를 내는 사람이 되어야 한다. 5) 동심을 따르는 힘과 지혜를 길러주어야 한다. 5) 아동은 자신의 삶을 즐기는 주인공이 되어야 한다. 7) 동심을 방해하는 책공부는 금지되어야 한다. 8) 어린이는 일과 놀이와 공부가 하나 된 삶을 살아야 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the literary and humanistic essay On the Childlike mind by the Ming scholar Lee Tako from an educational perspective. By way of introduction, this paper will first discuss the vicissitudes of his life and his quest for the Way, and take a look at his remaining oeuvre. The main part of this study analyzes the following three aspects of Lee's essay: 1. In praise of the "childlike mind;" 2. Losing sight of the "childlike mind;" 3. Actualizing the "childlike mind." Specifically, our discussion of On the Childlike Mind was approached according the following three angles of investigation: 1. humanistic education; 2. the person in charge of one's life; 3. moving beyond the study of writing. The educational path that appears to be outlined in Li's essay can be summarized as follows: 1. The "childlike mind" is the inherently good and true mind that is absolutely worth preserving; 2. The way of preserving this is by practicing trust and respect toward the child; 3. The mind of parents and teachers should be straight and pure; 4. Everybody should become someone who can speak his mind freely; 5. One should foster the strength and wisdom to follow the "childlike mind"; 6. The child should be in charge of his own life and decide how to enjoy it; 7. A book-centered teaching method that hampers the "childlike mind" should be forbidden; 8. One should enable a child to live a life in which work, play and study are one.
