영문 초록

A Study on Oh, Cheong-hee's Chinese Street. Dongnam Journal of Korean Language & Literature 26. I will give an outline of this paper as following. Oh, Cheong-hee's Chinese Street have been come into its own as a woman's bildungsroman. I agree with such an idea. However, I would like to concern about Incheon and China town where are local background of this novel. Then, I think that theme of this novel will be cleared up. Because this novel's background has an influence on this novel's theme. Especially, China town was suffered a change with Korean modern history. After Korean War, China town became the space of minority and settler. This novel is represented such a special character of China town and city of Incheon. Moreover focus speaker, ‘I’ am interested in China town and Incheon. At the park she(focus speaker, ‘I’) like to look down port, factories and China town where she live in. At first, she thought unfamiliar with Incheon and China town. But associating with her neighborhood at China town, she begin to understand a society and life. And she begin to feel interest with Chinese young man. It was the first time that she has a feeling of love. It become the moment that she accept the otherness with magnanimity, and perceive femineity. I think that these affairs come to pass in China town, Incheon. Because of the speciality of China town, a young girl can grow up in mental. China town is the space of minority and settler. She could perceive difficulties of life in China town, Incheon.
