예비교사의 도덕판단력과 교사역할개념의 관계 연구

국문 초록

  본 연구의 목적은 교직 과목을 이수중인 예비교사들의 일반적 도덕판단력과 교직상황에서의 도덕판단력을 살펴보고, 두 가지 도덕판단력이 도덕적 동기화와 어떤 관련성이 있는지를 탐색하는 것이다. 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 서울시내 2개 대학의 사범대학생들과 교직을 이수중인 학생 총 224명 대상으로 한국판 도덕판단력 검사(KDIT), 교사용 도덕판단력 검사(TTMR)를 실시하고 교사역할개념에세이를 수집하였다. 교사의 역할지각은 도덕적 딜레마 상황에서 다른 가치들보다 도덕적 가치를 우위에 놓을 수 있는지에 관한 도덕적 동기화 개념과 관련된다. 본 연구의 결과 학년이 올라감에 따라 도덕판단력 점수와 교직상황에서의 도덕판단력 점수가 모두 의미 있게 상승하였다. 그러나, 학생의 성별 및 전공은 두 가지 도덕판단력과 관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 에세이를 토대로 전문직업인으로서 교사의 역할에 대한 학생들의 지각을 분석한 결과 교과, 학생, 사회의 세 영역으로 역할의 범주가 구분되었다. 교과 영역에서는 교과전문가로서의 역할이, 학생 영역에서는 학습전문가, 인성교육자, 코치의 역할이, 마지막으로 사회 영역에서는 전문직업인의 역할이 중요하게 부각되었다. 다섯 가지 역할 중 교과전문가와 코치의 역할을 지각하는 예체능계열의 학생의 비율이 다른 계열 학생의 비율보다 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 한 편, 인성교육자의 역할을 지각한 학생과 그렇지 않은 학생 사이에 일반적 도덕판단력과 교직도덕판단력의 차이가 존재하지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 교사가 인성교육자로서 자신의 역할을 인식하는 것과 현실의 윤리적 문제를 해결하는 능력을 갖추는 것이 별개의 사안이며 두 가지 도덕적 역량을 함께 길러주는 교원양성교육이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

  This study investigates the development of moral reasoning ability among students in colleges of education. Specifically, this study compares general moral reasoning and the reasoning required in teaching situations The relationship between two different moral reasoning abilities and moral motivation is studied. Data consist of responses from a total of 224 students in two teacher"s colleges in Seoul. Participants completed Korean version of the Defining Issue Test(KDIT), the Test of Teacher"s Moral Reasoning(TTMR), and role concept essay. The result indicates that both of moral reasoning abilities develop as grade increases. Students" gender and majors were not related to their scores in two measures. The qualitative analysis of role concept essay reveals that students perceive teachers" role within three different domains; subject, student, and society. Students perceived teacher"s role as a subject-matter experts in subject domain, and as a learning expert, a character educator, and a coach in student domain. They also conceptualized teacher as a professional in a society. In physical or musical education major, the proportion of student who perceive the role as a subject-matter expert or a coach was lower compared to the other majors. Students" perception of role as a character educator did not have significant relationship with two test scores. This implicates that perceiving the role of moral or character educator does not guarantee one"s moral reasoning ability required to solve ethically controversial situations in school setting. Two different components of morality should be developed through carefully designed programs.
