국문 초록

  대기오염물질의 측정 등에 자주 사용되는 무단위농도와 단위농도와의 연계성을 설명하기 위해 질량/부피단위의 농도를 부피/부피 분율의 무단위농도로 환산하는 공식을 개발하였다. 이러한 방식에 따르면, 질량/부피 단위농도에 단순히 전환계수인 ∇/MW<SUB>p</SUB>를 곱해주므로써 부피/부피농도의 환산이 가능하다 (여기서 ∇와 MW<SUB>p</SUB>는 각각 이상기체의 몰당 부피와 오염불질의 분자량을 의미한다). 여기에 덧붙여, 질량/질량과 부피/부피 분율간의 관계를 설명하기 위해 질량/질량 분율을 질량/부피단위와도 결부지어 보았다. 최종적으로 두 종류의 무단위농도를 연결짓는 공식을 유출한 결과, 두 농도간의 비는 공기분자량과 오염물질의 분자량간의 비율에 의해 조절된다는 것을 증명할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

  To explain a linkage between unit- and unitless-based concentrations in measurements of airborne pollutants, a formulus was developed to facilitate conversion of the fundamental ‘mass-to-volume’ (unit-based) concentration into more practical ‘volume-to-volume’ (unitless) concentration terms. According to this method, ‘volume-to-volume’ concentration can be derived by multiplying the conversion factor (∇/MW<SUB>p</SUB>) to ‘mass-to-volume’ concentration where ∇ and MW<SUB>p</SUB> are molar volume of ideal gas (i.e., 22.414 l/mole at STP) and molecular weight of pollutant, respectively, In addition to this derivation, ‘mass-to-mass’ concentration term, which is not generally accepted for airborne pollutant, was also related to ‘mass-to-volume’ concentration term to examine relationship between two different unitless concentration terms. According to the equations linking the two terms, it is possible to demonstrate that the ratio in molecular weight between air and pollutant determine the magnitude of ratio in two different unitless concentration terms.
