국문 초록

  이 연구는 한구, 일본, 미국, 프랑스의 초등학교 수학 교과서의 질문을 비교분석하여, 우리나라 수학 교과서의 질문 방식 개선에 필요한 시사점을 얻는 데 목적이 있다. 연구의 결과, 우리나라 초등학교 수가 교과서에 제시된 질문 방식의 개선 방향은 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 문장식 질문의 비중을 늘리는 방향으로 개선이 필요하다. 둘째, 수식 질문에서 미지수의 위치를 다양화할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 문장식 질문에서 나눗셈 상황을 다양하게 골고루 제시할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 1, 2단계 연산을 요하는 문장식 질문을 골고루 제시할 필요가 있다. 다섯째, 문장식 질문에서 활용되는 생활 소재들의 범위를 보다 다양화할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

  This study is to compare question styles of the elementary mathematics textbooks in Korea, Japan, USA and France and to make suggestions for the improvement of question style in Korean mathematics textbooks. For the study, lessons on the ‘division’ in the fourth grade mathematics textbooks of four different countries were selected and analyzed according to the five criteria:  frequencies of all questions, frequencies of number expression questions and sentence expression questions, frequencies of different types of number expression questions, frequencies of different types of sentence expression questions, and the degree of variety of life situations used in sentence expression questions.
  In this comparative study, the following facts are found. First, the French textbook has the highest ratio of sentence expression questions over number expression questions and the Japanese textbook has the lowest ratio. The Korean and American textbooks are midway between them. Second, different types of number expression questions are found in the American and French textbooks, whereas only one type of number expression questions is found in the Korean and Japanese textbooks. Third, different types of sentence expression questions are found in the American. French, and Japanese textbooks, whereas only one type of sentence expression question is predominant in the Korean textbook. Fourth, the American and French textbooks use the most various life situations in sentence expression questions and the Korean textbook has the least variety.
  From this study, five suggestions are inferred for the improvement of the Korean elementary mathematics textbook. First. it should have more sentence expression questions, Second, different types of number expression questions should be included. Third, different types of sentence expression questions should be included. Fourth, sentence expression questions demanding more than two-step thinking in solving questions should be kept up in mathematics textbooks in Korea. Fifth. a variety of life situations should be utilized.
