대학부설 평생교육원의 발달장애인을 위한 성인교육 프로그램의 개관 및 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학교 부설 평생교육원의 하나인 이화여자대학교 평생교육원에서 2001년 2학기부터 처음으로 실시하기 시작한 "발달장애인 지역사회 생활 아카데미" 프로그램의 주요 내용을 제시하며, 수강생들의 프로그램 참여 전과 후의 주요활동 수행수준의 변화에 대한 자료르 제시하고, 대학부설 평생교육원 혹은 다른 일반 평생교육기관에서 발달장애인을 위한 성인교육 프로그램 실시가 확대될 필요성을 제기한다. 본 프로그램의 효과 검정을 위해 15명 수강생의 2002년 2학기 프로그램에의 참여 전과 후의 활동수행 수준 변화에 대한 (1)부모와 강사의 평가자료; (2)수강생과 부모의 본 프로그램 만족도; (3)자원활동자의 본 프로그램 평가자료가 수집되었다. 이 자료들의 분석결과는 모두 긍정적으로 본 프로그램은 수강생의 지역사회생활 기술 수행향상에 효과가 있었다. 본 연구는 대학교라는 "새로운" 통합환경과 실제 지역사회 환경들을 교수의 장소로 활용하면서 발달장애인에게 평생교육원의 한 수강생 자격권을 부여하고, 성인기 생활에 필요한 지역사회생활 기술들을 교수하여 효과를 검정한 국내에서의 첫 번째 연구가 된다. 또한 본 연구는 "통합"차원이 발달장애인의 성인교육에서도 중요한 한 구성요소라는 것을 예증한다. 발달장애인의 경우 중등교육이 종료되면 중등이후의 계속교육 기회가 희박한 현 상황에서, 다양한 질 높은 성인교육 기회가 지역사회의 일반 평생교육기관에서 제공되기 위하여 국가의 행·재정적 지원체계 마련과 전문가들의 관심과 연구 증대의 필요성이 지적되었다.

영문 초록

The continuing education center at Ewha Womans University has conducted an "Academy for community living of adults with developmental disabilities" since the second semester of the year 2001. This study describes the overview of the content of the academy program for adult students with developmental disabilities and demonstrate the effects of the program on the performance level of community living activities of adult students with developmental disabilities. Also, this study provides discussions that propose the need for expansion of adult education programs for people with disabilities at university affiliated continuing education centers or other general continuing education centers. The data gathered to prove the effects of the program, based on 15 students that had attended the program in the second semester of 2002, were: (1)parents' and instructors' evaluations of the difference in the students' activity performance level of pre- and post-program; (2)students' and parents' levels of satisfaction in the program; (3)college student volunteers' evaluation of the program, which all analyzed to a generally positive result. This study is the first to provide a university as a new inclusive education environment, to use various sub-environments and a real community environment as a teaching place, give those with developmental disabilities qualifications to be a member of the continuing education center at a university, and also verify the effects of teaching community living skills that are necessary in adulthood life. At the same time, this study also illustrates that an inclusion dimension is one of the significant factors in the education of adults with developmental disabilities. For those with developmental disabilities, the opportunity to move onto quality post-secondary education is quite scarce, thus demanding higher interest and research of professionals and the nation's arrangements for administrative and financial support systems in order to provide a variety of high quality adult education opportunities at community general continuing education facilities.
