영문 초록

This review was performed to understand sexual dysfunction in men on chronic hemodialysis. This article reviews the literature regarding factors associated with sexual dysfunction in male patients on dialysis and the implications for rehabilitation nursing practice. To summarize the literature review, sexual dysfunction is common phenomenon among men an chronic hemodialysis. Several physical conditions, including anemia, diabetes, prolonged nerve condition, and decreased plasma testosterone levels can contribute to male dialysis patients sexual dysfunction. Male dialysis patients reporting sexual dysfunction also tend to be older than men who do not experience sexual dysfunction. Psychological factors associated with sexual dysfunction in male dialysis patients are moderate levels of depression and low hostility scores which have been associated with a lack of drive among the men. Data further indicate that men with potency problems tend to have lost their dominant role in the family. An important change in the male dialysis patients roles within the family was associated with their decreased ability to maintain a work role and the associated decrease in income that resulted. Rehabilitation nurses frequently deal with these problems at their level of comfort, refer to other team members if unable to address the problems expressed, and participate as members of the sexual management team. It is the responsibility of every rehabilitation nurse to give the client permission to discuss sexual concerns and then to deal with any expressed difficulties appropriately. Two suggestions of this review were the research that more fully describes the extent of sexual dysfunction among male dialysis patients is needed. And research regarding rehabilitation nursing interventions related to sexual health is necessory to ensure that interventions are accepted by and beneficial to men receiving hemo who experince sexual dysfunction.
