안전에 관한 심리학적 고찰 : 행동-중심적 접근과 인간공학적 접근을 중심으로

국문 초록

삶의 질의 향상은 인간-기계-환경속에서 인간이 경험하는 안전의 정도의 향상을 동시에 요구한다. 사고의 방지 혹은 안전과 관련하여 가장 먼저 제기되는 질문은 지금까지 안전의 정도를 향상시키기 위해 어떠한 접근이 제기되었으며, 이러한 접근들 중에서 어떠한 접근을 선택할 것인가를 결정하는 것이다. 본고에서는 인간-기계-환경의 상호 작용 속에서 사고의 방지와 안전의 성취를 위한 여러 접근들 중 행동 수정 기법과, 인간 공학적 접근이 어떻게 인간과 피드백을 통한 목표행동의 유도를 추구하는 행동 수정 기법은 다른 접근들에 비해 상대적으로 행동에 대한 개입이 직접적이고 즉각적 효과가 있다는 것이 일반적인 견해이나, 그 효과가 단기적이고 목표 행동 외의 다른 행동 요소들에 대한 처치의 효과가 불분명하다는 단점이 있다. 인간 요인과 기술적(혹은 공학적) 요인의 적절한 조화를 추구하는 인간 공학적 접근은 인간-기계 상호 작용 속에서 인간과 기계의 상대적 장단점에 기초한 적절한 역할 분담과 인간 예러의 체계적 분석을 통해 기증의 효율성과 안전의 보장을 추구한다. 안전에 관한 접근 방법들이 시대에 따라 또는 상황에 따라 달라졌으나 향동 수정 접근과 인간 공학적 접근의 장단점을 고려하면, 바람직한 접근 방법은 (1) 규제에 의한 행동에서 자율적, 자기-책임적 행동으로, (2) 행동의 오류에 대한 처벌 중심에서 안전 행동에 대한 강화중심으로, (3) 행동의 결과 중심에서 행동의 과정 중심으로, (4) 사후 대처에서 사전 예방으로, (5) 일시적 수정에서 계속적 향상으로, 그리고 (6) 인간, 환경, 행동의 각 요소별 접근에서 전체적 상호작용 중심으로의 변화를 요구한다.

영문 초록

Enhancement of quality of life requires improvement of safety in complex interaction of human-machine-environment system. One of the most important issues related to the efforts of preventing accidents and improving safety is to examine the effectiveness of various approaches and to select most appropriate approach. The present paper compared behavior-based approach(in particular, behavior modification technique) and human factors approach in terms of their relative strength and weakness. Although behavior modification technique which is based on traditional behaviorism is very effective to prevent undesired behavior and to induce required behavior, its effect appears to be last only short period and restricted to only targeted behavior (rather than to be expandable to general behavioral pattern). Human factors approach (or ergonomics) pursues integrated reconciliation between human and engineering factors to enhance safety through proper allocation of functions based on relative capability and limitation of human and machine and systematic human error analysis. Although a specific approach can be more effective than others under a given situation, future approaches of safety should emphasize on autonomous and self-responsible behavior rather than enforced behavior, (2) reinforcement of safe behavior rather than punishment of behavioral error, (3) behavioral process rather the its outcome, (4) prospective prevention rather retrospective treatment, (5) continuous enhancement rather than temporary modification, and (6) integrated rather than individual changes of human - machine - environment system.
