영문 초록

Purpose: This study examines the mediating effect of perceived discrimination on the relationship between work environment satisfaction and migrant worker mental health. Methods: Multiple regression analysis was conducted using the three-step procedure proposed by Baron and Kenny, and the Sobel test was used to determine whether the mediating effect of perceived discrimination was significant. Results: The results of step 1 of the analysis showed that the effect of work environment satisfaction on perceived discrimination was significant. Step 2 showed the effect of work environment satisfaction on mental health was significant. However, Step 3 showed that work environment satisfaction did not significantly influence mental health after controlling for perceived discrimination. These results indicate mental health among migrant workers was fully mediated by perceived discrimination. Conclusion: The findings of this study show efforts are needed to improve work environment satisfaction by improving the work environment, that is, by establishing communication systems between employer, superiors, colleagues, and migrant workers and by improving the early detection and management of migrant worker mental health problems at the community level.
