한국의 베트남 다문화가족 이중언어교육 사례연구: 베트남어 교육을 위한 필요 요인을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 자녀에게 적극적으로 베트남어를 교육하고 있는 베트남 다문화가족의 사례를 통해 이들의 베트남어 교육 양상을 알아보고, 베트남어 교육에 필요한 요인을 사례연구 방법으로 분석했다. 이를 위해 자녀에게 베트남어를 교육하고 있는 네 가족의 부모 8명, 자녀 6명을 연구참여자로 선정하고, 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집, 분석했다. 연구결과 베트남 다문화가족은 각 가정이 처한 상황을 적극 활용해 자녀에게 베트남어를 교육하고 있었다. 베트남어 교육에 필요한 요인은 결혼이민여성, 한국인 가족, 자녀, 사회제도적 요인으로 나뉘었다. 결혼이민여성 요인은 ‘엄마의 베트남어 교육에 대한 의지와 신념’, ‘베트남어 사용을 유지하기 위한 노력’으로, 한국인 가족 요인은 ‘아빠의 지원’, ‘친가가족들의 동의’로, 자녀 요인은 ‘베트남어 학습에 대한 적극적인 태도’, ‘한국어 습득에 대한 걱정 해소’, ‘성공적인 학교생활 적응’으로, 사회제도적 요인은 ‘지역사회 기관의 베트남어 수업 개설’, ‘결혼이민여성의 사회 참여’로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 한국 사회의 다문화가족들이 각자의 상황에 적합한 자원과 요인을 활용하여 자녀 이중언어교육을 실행해야 하며, 이를 위해 개별가족의 노력뿐만 아니라 지역사회나 정부 차원에서의 지원정책이 마련되어야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the cases of the Korean-Vietnamese multicultural families whose children are being provided with vigorous Vietnamese language education and to analyze the factors that are necessary for Vietnamese language education. For this purpose, the researcher selected four families, composed of eight parents and six children and conducted in-depth interviews. The result of this study showed that these Vietnamese multicultural families were utilizing their situation rigorously to teach their children Vietnamese. The factors necessary for using and teaching Vietnamese were classified into marriage immigrant women, Korean families, children, and social factors. The factors for marriage immigrant women included ‘the will and commitment of the mother to teach the children Vietnamese’ and ‘the efforts to maintain usage of Vietnamese.’ The Korean family factors were ‘the support from the father’ and ‘consent from the families for the father’s side.’ The factor for the children included ‘an active attitude toward learning Vietnamese,’ ‘resolving worries about learning Korean,’ and ‘successfully adapting to the school life.’ The social factors were ‘availability of Vietnamese classes in social organizations in the residential area’ and ‘social participation by the marriage immigrant women.’ The findings of this study indicate that many multicultural families in Korea should utilize the resources and factors available to them according to the situation they are in, engaging in bilingual education for their children and assisting such efforts. Finally, not only the family members themselves but also the local community or the government should provide supporting policies.
