다문화가정 학생들의 학업성취 영향요인들 간 구조적 관계

국문 초록

본 연구는 다문화청소년패널 조사 3차 년도 데이터를 사용하여 다문화학생의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 요인들 간의 구조적 관계를 탐색하고자 수행되었다. 초등학교 6학년을 대상으로 구조방정식 모형 분석을 실시한 결과, 부모감독, 교사-학생관계 만족도, 자아존중감, 성취동기가 다문화가정 학생들의 학업성취에 유의미한 영향력을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 가정의 경제자본은 학생들의 학업성취, 교사-학생관계 만족도, 성취동기, 자아존중감에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 부모감독과 교사-학생관계 만족도는 학생들의 학업성취에 직접적으로 영향을 미치며 성취동기와 자아존중감을 매개로 간접적인 영향을 미친 것으로 드러났다. 또한 자아존중감도 학업성취에 직접적으로 영향을 미치며, 성취동기를 매개로 학업성취에 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 성취동기는 학업성취에 가장 강력한 효과를 발휘하는 것으로 판명되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 다문화학생들의 학업성취를 높일 수 있는 방안들에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study examines the structural relationships between factors which influence academic achievement of multicultural adolescents based on the third wave data from Multi-cultural Adolescent Panel Survey(MAPS). On executing the Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) of sixth graders, it was found that parental monitoring, teacher-student relationship, self-esteem, and achievement motivation have a significant effect on academic achievement of multicultural students. It turned out that the economic status of their families did not affect academic achievement, teacher-student relationship, achievement motivation, and self-esteem of the students. However, parental monitoring and teacher-student relationship directly affected academic achievement of the students and also indirectly affected achievement motivation and self-esteem. Self-esteem also had a direct influence on academic achievement and an indirect influence on achievement motivation. Lastly, it was proven that achievement motivation was the factor that had the strongest effect on academic achievement. On the basis of the results of the analysis, this study discusses the ways to improve academic achievement of multicultural students.
