국문 초록

최근 다문화 청소년이 증가함에 따라 다문화 청소년의 학교생활 어려움이 사회문제로 대두되고 있다. 이에 다문화 청소년의 성공적 학업 수행과 어려움 극복을 위해 성취동기의 중요성이 제시되고 있다. 본 연구는 다문화 청소년의 한국어 능력이 학업 적응을 매개로 하여 성취동기에 미치는 영향을 확인하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 대상은 한국청소년정책연구원의 ‘다문화청소년패널조사(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study: MAPS)’ 5차년도 참여자 1,298명이다. 연구참여자와 변수 특성 파악을 위해 빈도분석, 기술통계, 상관관계분석을 실시한 후 매개효과 확인을 위해 다중회귀분석과 부트스트래핑 방법으로 유의성 검증을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 다문화 청소년의 한국어 능력은 학업 적응에 정적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 다문화 청소년의 한국어 능력은 성취동기에 유의미하게 정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 다문화 청소년의 학업 적응은 한국어 능력과 성취동기의 관계 사이에서 유의미하게 부분매개효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석 결과를 바탕으로 다문화 청소년의 성취동기를 향상시키기 위한 다양한 개입 방안을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

As the number of multicultural adolescents increases, multicultural adolescents’ difficulties in school life have emerged as a social problem. The importance of achievement motivation has been emphasized for successful school life. The purpose of this study is to examine the association between multicultural adolescents’ Korean ability and achievement motivation and the mediating effect of academic adaptation. For this purpose, 1,298 research participants were selected in 5th wave data from the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study. Descriptive and correlation analyses were conducted to understand participant and variables’ information. Multiple regression analysis and bootstrapping method were also used to verify the mediation effect. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, multicultural adolescents’ Korean ability has a positive effect on academic adaptation and achievement motivation. Second, multicultural adolescents’ academic adaptation partially mediates the association between Korean ability and achievement motivation. Based on the results, Various intervention solutions to improve multicultural adolescents’ achievement motivation are discussed.
