국제 교과특성화학교의 국제 계열 전문교과 교육과정 운영 현황 분석: 세계시민교육에의 시사점 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구는 2022학년도 기준 전국 16개 시․도 국제 교과특성화학교를 대상으로 국제 계열 전문교과 교육과정 운영 현황을 조사․분석하였다. 국제 계열 전문교과 교육과정은 학교 교육과정 중 세계시민교육의 목표와 내용을 가장 직접적․구체적․심층적으로 반영한 교육과정이다. 분석 결과, 전국 총 77개 국제 교과특성화학교에서 국제 계열 전문교과 148개 과목이 운영되어 학교별 평균 1.92개 개설 수치를 보이는 가운데 지역 격차가 두드러졌다. 전체 11개 과목 가운데 ‘세계 문제와 미래 사회’의 개설 비율이 18.2%로 가장 높았고, ‘국제 경제’가 16.8%로 뒤를 이었다. 전체 수업의 12.8%가 온․오프라인 공동교육과정을 통해 실시되었다. 평가 방식으로는 지필평가 25%, 수행평가 75%의 경향이 나타난 가운데, 88.5% 이상의 수업에서 50% 이상의 수행평가 실시 비율을 보였다. 연구 결과는 국제 교과특성화학교의 교육과정 운영에 나타난 세계시민교육의 기회와 한계를 고찰하고, 교육과정 다양화에 기초한 세계시민교육의 지향점을 논의하는데 유용한 실증적 근거를 제공해준다.

영문 초록

International Studies Specialized Subject(ISSS) is a national level school curriculum area that most directly, specifically, and deeply reflects the objects and contents of global citizenship education. Unlike the existing ones applicable to a small number of International Studies High Schools, ISSS in the 2015 revised curriculum has more widely been adopted and offered in general high schools that promote global citizenship including International Studies Subject Specialized High School(ISSSH)s. This study investigated the operation of ISSS courses in ISSSHs in 16 regions across the nation as of 2022 academic year. The findings show that a total of 77 ISSSHs nationwide offered 148 ISSS courses, showing an average of 1.92 courses per school. By region, there is a large gap in the course offerings from Gyeonggi, which provided almost 1/4 of the total, to Jeonnam having no ISSSH. By subject, ‘World Issues & Future Society’ was most offered(18.2%) out of 11 subjects, while ‘International Economy’ was followed by 16.8 %. 12.8% of courses were operated as a joint curriculum among schools. In terms of evaluation, 88.5% of the subjects adopted performance assessment method at a rate of 50% or higher. The results of this study provide empirical evidences for evaluating the possibilities and limitations of ISSS curriculum and/in ISSSHs, and discussing implications for global citizenship education.
