유아의 놀이 속 배움을 위한 교사의 언어적 지원에 대한 자기연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아의 놀이 속 배움을 위한 언어적 지원 실천과정에서 교사는 어떠한 경험을 하며 이를 통해 발견한 언어적 지원은 무엇인지를 탐구하는 것이다. 본 연구는 2022년 2월부터 10월에 걸쳐 이루어진 자기연구로 관찰(교사의 언어적 지원 관찰 녹음, 유아와의 상호작용 관찰, 비디오 녹화), 면담(자기와의 대화기록, 비판적 동료와의 대화 녹음, 유아 면담 녹음) 등의 다면적 자료를 수집하고 전사와 범주 및 재범주화하는 과정을 통해 분석하였다. 연구 결과 교사의 언어적 지원 경험은 ‘배움의 의미 되짚어보기’, ‘공백의 가치 찾아가기’, ‘선입견에 가려졌던 언어적 지원 발견하기’, ‘나만의 적절함 찾아가기’로 범주화되었다. 이를 통해 발견한 유아의 놀이 속 배움을 위한 언어적 지원은 ‘나비처럼 들어와 벌처럼 빠지기’, ‘자연스럽게 배움의 초점 돌리기’, ‘ “왜”를 지우고 “왜” 질문하기’, ‘언어를 넘어 비언어로 지원하기’로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 언어적 지원과 관련하여 어려움을 겪는 교사들에게 성찰과 반성의 계기를 마련하고, 바람직한 지원의 방향을 제공한다는 데에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the reflective experiences teachers were able to experience and types of linguistic support they could discover during the process of practicing linguistic support for young children’s learning amidst play. This self-study, which was conducted from February to October 2022, collected multifaceted data, including observations (recording of the teacher’s linguistic support and videotaping of interactions with children), interviews (conversations with self, recordings of the conversations with ‘critical colleagues’, and interviews with young children), and analysis of the collected data through the process of transcription, categorization, and re-categorization. The findings of this linguistic support experience were categorized by reflecting on meaning of learning, finding the value of a gap, discovering linguistic support hidden behind prejudices, and finding my one’s own appropriateness in the process of practicing linguistic support. These experiences helped the teachers find linguistic support as entering like a butterfly and backing out like a bee, naturally turning the focus of learning, asking why questions by erasing the “why,” and providing linguistic support beyond language. These study findings are significant in that they offer a chance for reflection and self-examination and a direction for desirable support to teachers who have difficulties with linguistic support.
