엄격하고 믿어 의심치 않는 도덕판단

국문 초록

도덕판단과 도덕행위는 엄격한 것이다. 사람들은 삶에서 이 엄격한 도덕판단과 도덕행위를 지킨다는 것이 벅차다는 것을 알면서도 어째든 ‘지켜야만 하는 것’으로 받아들였다. 지키기 어려운 것인대도 ‘지켜야만 하는 것'은 알게 모르게 관념적 추상물이 되게 되어 있다. 그래서 그것은 철학적 현학으로 취급되고, 그것을 과학하는 것은 불가능한 것 처럼 보였다. 심리학자와 사회학자들은 사회적 통제를 목적으로 지금 세력을 떨치고 있는 덕목이나 규범을 도덕이라고 이름하여 연구했다. 그들은 도덕을 사회적 요소나 심리적 특성으로 환원하여 설명했다. 그들은 결국 도덕판단과 도덕행위의 엄격성을 상대주의 혹은 다원주의의 이름으로 완화시켰던 것이다. 오늘의 해체주의자들은 엄격성 완화라는 편법을 쓸 것이 아니라, 그것 자체를 완전히 해체시키기에 이르렀다. 그들은 그런 것은 ‘도덕과 비도덕을 구분하는 방식으로' 해야 되고 해서는 안되는 것들을 잔득 만들어 놓았다고 했다. 콜버거는 도덕판단과 도덕행위는 엄격한 것이며, 동시에 믿어도 좋은 것 reliable, 즉 스스로 의지하여 자신있게 드러낼 수 있는 것이라고 했다. 다른 사람에 대해 주장만 하는 것은 도덕이 아니며, 그 주장의 넓이와 깊이만큼 내 자신에게 그것을 되돌리는 내부활동 능력이 도덕을 만들어 낸다고 보았다. 그는 이러한 도덕판단과 행위의 개념과 실재는 칸트의 철학에서 성립한다고 보며, 칸트의 도덕법과 인간존중의 가치를 산출하는 인간능력을 실증할 수 있으리라고 기대했다. 이 집근만이 도덕판단과 행위의 과학을 할 수 있다고 보았다. 그는 칸트에서 시작하여 피아제, 미드, 비고츠키, 듀이, 롤즈의 이론을 참조체제로 도덕판단과 행동의 과학을 정립했다. 그의 이러한 지적 탐험은 엄격하고 신뢰할 수 있는 도덕판단과 행위, 그래서 그것이 오로지 인간품격과 공동체의 가치를 창출하는 틀이 되게 하는 것이다. 콜버거에게, 도덕성은 인간정신활동의 소산이며, 도덕성은 어떻게 정의 내리더라도 수량으로 재고 표시할 수 없는 것이다. 도덕성은 사회적 세계를 누구나 ‘동의할만한' 판단(앎, 인지)을 할 수 있는 유능함이다.마치 피아제의 지능이 물리적 세계에 관한 이해할만한 intelligible 판단을 할 수 있는 유능함이고, 그것은 발달적 특성을 지닌다고 보았듯이.

영문 초록

Moral judgment and moral action is of rigor. People say that this rigorous moral judgment and action is necessary all along their own lives, though knowing it is difficult. 'Necessary though difficult' will have people make moral rules abstractions. Psychologists and sociologists have studied prevalent virtues and norms here and now. It is in the name of 'moral', but for social control in nature. Their approach is the reduction of morality into social components or personal traits. After all, they loose the rigorousness under the cover . of relativism and pluralism. Further on, deconstructionists proclaim that the rigorousness be totally deconstructed. The reason is that the rigorous morality judges a person good or bad, and brings him under the authority of power, by "distinguishing between moral and immoral". By Kohlberg, moral judgment and action are at once rigorous and "reliable". 'Reliable' is 'possible to rely on and act confidently for himself'. Morality is not to just demand moral arguments of others. Rather, it can be made from an inner capacity. The capacity can re-demand moral arguments of oneself as widely and deeply as of others. These ideas and practice are based on Kant's philosophy. Kohlberg expected that human capacity of valuing Kant's moral laws and respect for person can be testified. Only this approach, he believed, makes it possible to scientize moral judgment and action. His scientization was made by several frames of reference, just like Piaget, Mead, Vygotsky, Dewey, and Rawls as well as Kant. His intellectual exploration is aimed at rigorous and reliable moral judgment and action. And it' s finally at formulating the frame to value humanity and community. Morality is the result of the activities of human mind, and cannot be quantified in any circumstance. According to Kohlberg, morality can be explained as 'competence'. By competence, we can make sharable judgments (knowledge, cognition) in social world. This competence is, in Piaget, intelligence. By intelligence, we can make intelligible judgments in physical world, which is of developmental characteristics.
