“학급경영” 지식의 변천 양상에 대한 비판적 고찰

국문 초록

이 연구는 ‘학급경영’ 관련 지식이 국내에 도입, 확산, 전파되는 과정에 대한 지식사회학적 분석을 통해 교사들에게 ‘학급경영’ 관련 지식이 차지하는 위상과 그 성격이 어떻게 변화하였는가를 비판적으로 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 학급경영 주제의 학술 자료와 단행본 및 교육청 문서, 교사들이 생산한 각종 문헌 자료들을 종합적으로 검토하고, 지식의 변천 과정에 내재한 헤게모니를 분석하였다. 2000년대 이전 ‘학급경영’ 관련 지식은 ‘체제경영적’ 접근에 따른 교육학자들의 저서를 중심으로 생산되어왔으나, 대학 외부에서는 교사들의 저항적, 해방적 성격의 학급운영 지식들이 공유되고 있었다. ‘학급경영’ 관련 지식은 2009년 교직실무 과목이 교원 양성과정에 도입되면서 공식적 지식으로서의 위치를 차지한 이후, 교육청 단위 매뉴얼 등을 통해 학급운영에 관한 표준화된 지식으로 확산되었다. 동시에 ‘학급경영’의 내용 영역이던 인성교육 및 학교폭력 예방 교육 등이 관련 정책의 시행에 따라 학교 단위의 업무로 전문화, 체계화되는 과정이 나타났다. 한편 2015년 이후 효율적인 학급경영 방법에 관한 지식들이 교사들로부터 다수 생산되면서 현장 중심의 지식이 팽창하였다. 이러한 전개 양상은 학급경영 지식에 내재한 체제경영적 관점이 관료적인 방식을 통해 학교에 침투하는 동시에, 교사들에게는 효율적이고 안정 지향적인 학급경영 방식을 표준화시킬 수 있는 헤게모니로 작동할 위험성을 내포한다. 이를 통해 이 연구는 ‘학급경영’ 지식의 체계화, 전문화 경향이 학급이라는 근대적 학습 관리 단위에 한정되는 ‘경영 전문가’로서의 교사를 강화할 수 있음을 지적하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the process of introducing, spreading, and disseminating knowledge related to ‘classroom management’ in Korea through a sociology of knowledge approach. For this study, academic data on classroom management topics, books, official documents, and various literature materials produced by teachers were comprehensively reviewed, and the hegemony inherent in the process of knowledge change was analyzed. Prior to the 2000s, the knowledge of ‘classroom management’ had been produced from the books of researchers based on a ‘systematic’ approach. However, outside the university, teachers’ resistant and liberating knowledge of “classroom management” was shared. Since the introduction of the “Teaching Practice” subject in the teacher training course in 2009, the knowledge of “classroom management” has occupied its position as an official knowledge. Since then, it has become standardized knowledge of class operation through training materials from the Office of Education. In addition, character education and school violence prevention education have been specialized and systematized as school-level tasks according to the implementation of related policies. Since 2015, class-based knowledge has expanded into knowledge about efficient class management methods and have been produced by teachers. These changes can penetrate schools through bureaucratic methods of system management and serve as hegemony for teachers to standardize efficient and stability-oriented class management methods. Through this, the study pointed out that the tendency to systematize and specialize ‘class management’ knowledge can strengthen teachers as ‘management experts’ limited to the modern learning management unit of classes.
