맹자의 여민동락과 타자 윤리학의 교육적 시사점

국문 초록

‘자타가 더불어 사는 인간사회’가 최우선 과제라고 교육받아온 우리에게 아직도 자타의 관계는 어렵고, 이 관계를 알려고 하는 노력은 더 시들해져 가는 것 같다. 하지만 우리가 다시 ‘자타’의 사회적 기능과 만남의 의미를 재탐구하면 ‘자타’와 그들이 이루고 있는 사회를 이해할 수 있고, 그들이 이룬 세상을 바꿀 수 있는 힘이 생길 것이라고 믿는다. 그 속에 좀 더 근원적으로 ‘교육’이 나아가야 할 방향을 함축하고 있다는 생각에서 자타에 대한 물음과 의미를 재탐색하고, 미래의 교육을 위한 재해석의 장으로 삼고자 하였다. 본고는 주체와 타자가 함께 공생할 수 있는 방법을 유학의 대표 경전 중 하나인 『孟子』의 ‘여민동락’과 레비나스와 데리다의 담론에서 다루어진 타자윤리학의 개념에서 살펴보았다. 『孟子』에서 다루어지는 인성론과 수양론의 개념을 접목시켜 ‘여민동락’으로 타자와 공생하는 방법을 찾고, 레비나스와 데리다의 타자윤리학의 개념에서 주체와 타자가 함께 환대하고 용서하여 주체-되기, 타자-되기가 이루어짐을 논의하였다. 타자 즉 낯선 것과의 자연스러운 만남을 ‘놀이’와 ‘수양’이라는 방법을 통해 교육에 접목시켜보고자 하였다. 본고는 타자의 윤리가 인간답고 공생하는 길을 열어주고 그것을 교육에서 활용할 수 있다는 것을 보여주고자 했다. 이는 타자의 윤리가 교육에 주는 시사점이라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

For those of us who have been taught that 'a human society in which people live together' is our top priority, the relationship with others remains complicated. Efforts to understand this relationship appears to be waning. However, I believe that if we re-explore the social function of 'self and non-self' and the meaning of meeting, we will be able to understand 'self and non-self' as well as the society they form and have the power to change the world they have created. I tried to re-explore the question and meaning of “self” using the concept that 'education' implies a more fundamental direction and to use it as a point of reinterpretation for future education. This paper examines how the subject and the other can coexist in the concept of the ethics of others, discussed in the discourse of Levinas and Derrida and “Rejoicing with the people” in Mencius, one of Confucianism’s representative scriptures. By grafting Mencius’ personality and discipline theory concepts, it finds a way of coexistence with others through “Rejoicing with the people.” a discussion of what to become. I attempted to graft the natural encounter with the other, that is, with the stranger, into education using 'play' and 'cultivation.' This paper attempted to show that the ethics of others can be used in education by opening the way to humans and coexistence. This is the implication that the ethics of others gives to education.
