국문 초록

연구 목적은 ‘텃밭의 배추’ 프로젝트 중 유아들이 배추-배추벌레-배추벌레고치벌의 생태적 관계를 어떻게 이해해 나가는지와 그런 관계 이해에 영향 미치는 요인은 무엇인지를 밝히는 것이다. 이를 위해 유아 관찰 및 대화 내용 기록, 유아들의 표현 작품, 연구자와 유아들과의 비형식적 면담 결과를 질적 분석하였다. 연구결과 ‘관계’ 이해는 각각의 외적 특성에 흥미를 보이되 관계를 분명하게 인식하지 못하는 단계에서, 눈에 보이는 현상에 주목하면서 좋은 편과 나쁜 편으로 관계를 이분법적으로 판단하는 단계로, 최종적으로 관계를 이해하는 단계로 발전되어 나갔다. ‘관계’ 이해에 영향 미치는 요인은 유아들의 지속적인 직접 경험, 경험 후 다양한 방법으로 표현하기, 연계된 조사 · 탐구 활동, 교사의 적절한 지지, 친구들과의 협동 및 생각 공유, 조부모 등 주변 사람들의 도움 등으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

There are two main purposes of this study. The first is to determine how young children understand the ecological relationship between cabbage, cabbage caterpillar, and apanteles glomeratus. The second is to define the factors that affect children’s understanding of this ecological relationship. For these purposes, I qualitatively analysed the results of observing children, recorded conversations between children, had informal conversations with children and teachers, and analysed children’s outcome of their expression on the subject. This research showed that children developed an understanding of the cabbage-cabbage caterpillar-and apanteles glomeratus relationship in roughly three stages. In the beginning stage, children mainly focused on the introduction of 3 subjects and did not notice any relationship. In the second stage, children still focused on what they saw, but they also classified the relationship of the subjects into good guy and bad guy . In the third stage, children understood specific features of each subject and the ecological relationship between all 3 subjects. The main factors that affect children’s understanding of an ecological relationship are their consistent hands-on experience, researching activities about related questions, expressing of their experiences in various ways, teachers’ appropriate scaffolding, cooperation and sharing thoughts with peers, and support from people around such as grandparents.
