중도이탈예방 알자(alza) 코칭 비교과 프로그램 개발 및 운영 사례 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 경기도 H대학교의 중도이탈예방 비교과 프로그램 개발․운영 사례 제시를 통해 내적으로는 H대학교의 경쟁력 강화와 질적 제고를 위함이고, 외적으로는 중도이탈 예방에 대한 주요 시사점을 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해, 경기도 H대학교는 중도이탈예방 알자(alza) 코칭 비교과 프로그램을 개발하고, 2020학년도 2학기 중도이탈률이 가장 높은 학과를 선정하여 1학년 재학생을 대상으로 6주간 코칭 프로그램을 운영하였다. 운영 결과, 연구 참여자들의 주도성, 자기효능감, 대학생활 적응에 대한 응답이 코칭 이후 모두 향상된 것으로 나타났고, 통계적으로도 유의미한 차이가 검증되었다. 이러한 연구결과로부터 중도이탈예방 비교과 프로그램은 대학생활 적응과 학습지원에 주요 목적을 두고 개발되어야 하며, 다수를 대상으로 하는 특강보다는 소수 또는 1:1 코칭으로 이루어져야 효과를 극대화할 수 있다고 결론 내릴 수 있었다. 또한, 중도이탈예방 프로그램은 사후 대책 마련이 아니라 진단과 예방에 초점을 맞추고, 중도이탈 학생의 개인적 특성과 유형에 따른 전략 방향을 설정해야 하며, 개인 책임에서 벗어나 대학기관 차원에서 안정적인 예산과 전문성 확보가 갖추어진 맞춤형 코칭 등이 제공되는 선제적 노력이 이루어져야 함을 시사점으로 제시하였다. 본 연구는 중도이탈률을 줄이면서 학생을 보유하기 위한 대학 운영 차원의 대책 수립과 프로그램 단위의 개발·운영에 시사점을 주었을 뿐만 아니라 대학의 중도이탈예방 프로그램 개발과 전략 마련에 기초적 자료를 제공하였다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to strengthen the competitiveness and quality of H University internally by presenting cases of development and operation of dropout prevention programs at H University in Gyeonggi-do, and to provide major implications for prevention of dropouts externally. To achieve this goal, Gyeonggi-do H University developed an alza coaching extracurricular program to prevent dropouts, and operates a 6-week coaching program for first-year students. As a result of the operation, it was found that the research participants responses to initiative, self-efficacy, and university life adjustment were all improved after coaching, and a statistically significant difference was also verified. From the results of this study, it was concluded that the dropout prevention program should be developed with the main purpose of university life adaptation and learning support, and that the effect can be maximized only through small or 1:1 coaching rather than special lectures for the majority. In addition, the dropout prevention program should focus on diagnosis and prevention rather than follow-up measures. This study not only gave implications for the establishment of university management-level measures and the development and operation of program units to retain students while reducing the dropout rate, but also provided basic data for the development of university dropout prevention programs and strategies.
