국문 초록

본 연구는 현대미술 감상 교육에서 문학과의 융합을 통한 교수·학습이 가지는 의미와 사례를 제시하고자 하였다. 기존의 융합 교육 담론에서 미술은 융합 교육 시행의 당위 아래 도구적으로 활용되곤 하였다. 그러나 미술교육에서 융합은 미술 외의 영역과의 연계가 교수·학습에 실제적인 도움이 될 때 이루어져야 한다. 이러한 문제의식 아래 본 연구는 융합 교육 프로그램의 개발이 아닌, 융합 교육에 있어서 미술과 문학의 융합이 어떠한 의미를 지닐 수 있는지 현대미술 감상의 측면에서 살펴보았다. 현대미술 감상 교육은 작품에 담긴 지식을 전달하는 방식으로 이루어지는 경우가 많다. 그 이유는 감상자가 그림 자체만으로는 맥락을 파악하고 주체적으로 감상하는 데 어려움을 겪기 때문이다. 감상자들이 감상 시 주로 어려움을 느끼는 현대미술의 주된 특징 중 한 가지인 ‘비재현성’을 중심으로 이를 생략, 상징적 색상, 구도와 배열로 구체화해본다면 이 요소들은 문학과의 융합을 통해 보다 효과적으로 이해될 수 있다. 해당 요소들이 전체적 의미와 조응하는 바를 문학 제재를 통해 선(先)이해하는 활동이 현대미술 감상의 비계로 작용할 수 있기 때문이다. 언어를 제재로 하였기에 상대적으로 설명적인 특성을 지니는 문학 텍스트에서의 해석 맥락은 현대미술의 감상에 전이되어 비계로 작용될 수 있다. 이처럼 미술과 문학의 융합은 주체적인 해석 경험에의 접근성을 높임으로써 능동적인 감상 능력 함양에 도움을 줄 수 있다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study is to present the significance and instances of the teaching-learning of contemporary art appreciation through convergence with literature. In the pre-existing discourse on convergence education, art was utilized in an instrumental capacity under the justification of convergence education. However, convergence in art education must be applied when it actually contributes to teaching-learning by linking with areas outside of art. In view of this, this study does not deal with the development of a convergence education program - rather, it examines what significance the convergence of art and literature might hold vis-à-vis convergence education from the aspect of contemporary art appreciation. The education of contemporary art appreciation is often conducted in the form of transferring knowledge regarding artworks. This is because, based on the work itself, viewers find it difficult to identify the work’s context and to appreciate it in an independent manner. Focusing on one of the key characteristics of contemporary art that gives rise to difficulties in appreciation - i.e., non-representation - and concretizing it through omission, symbolic coloration, composition and arrangement, these elements may be understood more effectively via convergence with literature. This is because the activity of understanding beforehand, via literary material, about these elements and how they accord with the overall significance of a work may serve as scaffolding for the appreciation of contemporary art. Because language is used as the material, the rpretative context of literary texts that are characterized as being relatively more descriptive can be transferred to contemporary art appreciation and play a scaffolding role. As such, the convergence of art and literature can help foster the capacity for active appreciation by facilitating access to the experience of independent appreciation.
