도구를 활용한 대근육 신체활동 프로그램이 유아의 기하 및 공간 능력에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 대근육 신체활동이 유아의 기하 및 공간 능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 서울시 G구에 소재한 어린이집에 재원 중인 만 5세 유아 42명을 각각 21명씩 실험집단과 비교집단으로 구성하여 4주간 주 5회씩 총 20회에 걸쳐 프로그램을 실시하였다. 연구도구는 홍혜경, 이정욱, 정정희(2006)가 개발한 기하 능력 검사 도구와 홍혜경(2001)이 개발한 공간능력 검사도구를 사용하여 검사를 진행하였으며, 수집된 자료는 공분산 분석(ANCOVA)을 통해 검증을 실시하였다. 그 결과 실험집단이 기하 및 공간능력에 있어 비교집단보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 대근육 신체활동이 유아의 자유로운 탐색과 도구를 이용한 구체적 적용 활동을 통해 공간 및 기하 능력 증진에 효과가 있었음을 나타낸다. 이러한 결과는 유아교육현장에서 대근육 신체활동이 유아의 기하 및 공간 능력 증진에 효과적인 활동으로 활용될 수 있음을 시사하고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to examine how gross motor physical activities influence the geometric abilities and spatial capabilities of children. The subjects of this study were 42 five-year-old children, separated into an experimental group and comparative group of 21 children respectively. All of the subjects were from S child care centers located in the G division of Seoul. The program was put in place over the course of four weeks with five sessions per week. In order to measure the geometric ability of the children, this study used a geometric ability test from ‘Early childhood mathematics measurement (Hong Hye Gyeong, Lee Jeong Wook, Jeong Jeong Hee, 2006) as a test tool. To measure spatial ability, this study used test tools from ‘Configuration system of spatial ability (Hong Hye Gyeong, 2001; Del Grande, 1990)’. The collected data was then analyzed and verified by implementing ANCOVA. The results of this study show that gross motor physical activities had a positive effect on the geometric and spatial abilities of children when comparing the experimental and comparative groups. This further indicates that gross motor physical activities can be used to enhance children’s geometric and spatial abilities in the child education field.
