국문 초록

‘내러티브로서 자아’란 내러티브를 사용함으로써 자아가 만들어 진다는 것을 의미한 다. 이는 내러티브를 사용함으로써 우리의 존재가 하나의 전개되는 이야기로 통합됨을 의미한다. 내러티브는 역사적으로 여러 전환점들을 통해 개념을 형성하고 자신의 학문 적 논리를 갖게 되었다. 내러티브는 역사적 변천을 거쳐 각 시대의 특징적인 모습을 함 축하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 네 가지 특징: ‘드라마주의’, ‘관점주의’, ‘전환점’, ‘균형잡기’ 를 확인하고 이른 자아 이야기 구성 과정으로 제시하였다. 이 네 가지 개념은 이야기의 내용이 아니라 이야기하는 방식이라고 할 수 있다. 내러티브로서 자아란 이야기 구성을 통해 자아가 형성됨을 말한다. 따라서 어떻게 자아 이야기를 하는가는 자아 형성에서 성 패의 관건이 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper identifies the key concepts for self story making. The key concepts are as follows: Dramaticism, Perspective, Turning-Point, and Balancing Act. ‘Dramaticism’ means the impetus to narrative. What drives a story is a misfit between the elements of the so called Burk s dramatic Pentad: Agent, Action, Goal, Means, and Setting. ‘Perspective’ implies that stories are always told from a particular perspective. Self story too cannot escape the perspective that dominates its narrative telling. ‛Turning Point’ in life shows itself when one reach impasses: bored and discontented and so on. One can conceive turning point in one s self telling as like a self-generated Peripeteia, one s previously coping with trouble having now generated trouble of its own. A self-making narrative is something of a ‘Balancing act’. It must, on the one hand, create a conviction of autonomy, that one has a will of one s own, a certain freedom of choice, a degree of possibility. But it must also relate the self to a world of others-to friends and family, to institute, to the past, to reference groups. Self-making through self-narrating is restless and endless dialectic process, a balancing act.
