싱글여성의 원가족과 사회적 관계의 경험 분석 - 인구교육의 시사점 도출을 위하여 -

국문 초록

본 연구는 30-40대 싱글여성의 원가족 및 사회적 관계의 경험을 심층면접을 통해 분석하였다. 서울경기, 경상도와 전라도 지역에 거주하는 싱글여성 18명을 대상으로 반구조화된 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 연구자들은 면담의 축어록을 통해 참여자들의 원가족과 사회적 관계에서의 경험과 관련된 진술문만을 발췌하여 분석하였고, 수집한 자료들은 주제별 분석법을 적용하여, 면접 내용의 부호화 과정, 해체화 과정, 재구성 과정의 3단계로 진행하였다. 그 결과 ‘가족 애착’, ‘특별한 사람들’, ‘소원한 친인척 관계’, ‘작은 사회생활’, ‘만남의 상실’, ‘무엇보다 자유를 찾아’ 라는 6가지 대주제를 찾을 수 있었다. ‘가족 애착’이라는 대주제에서는 “돌보아지는 성인아기, 싱글생활에 대한 지지, 끈끈한 가족관계”의 3개 중주제를 찾았다. ‘특별한 사람들’이라는 대주제에서는 “엄마 사랑, 친구같은 언니, 사랑스러운 조카”의 3개 중주제를 찾았고, ‘소원한 친인척관계’는 하나의 단일 중범주를 찾을 수 있었다. 또한 ‘작은 사회생활’에서는 “직장에서의 인연, 지인들과의 담소, 이성과 거리두기, 싱글은 싱글끼리”의 4개 중주제를, ‘만남의 상실’이라는 대주제에서는 “만남보다 홀로, 귀차니즘, 벅찬 일상”의 3개 중주제를, ‘무엇보다 자유를 찾아’라는 대주제에서는 “애착 주의, 얽힘 주의”의 2개 중주제를 찾아서, 총 16개의 하위 범주를 찾았다. 이와 같은 주제 분석의 결과는 싱글 여성들이 나타내는 원가족과 사회적 관계에서의 독특한 경험의 특성으로 볼 수 있어서, 이같은 결과가 싱글 여성의 삶에 대한 이해의 폭을 확장시켰다고 볼 수 있다. 싱글여성들이 보이는 끈끈한 가족관계와 스스로 선택한 좁은 사회적 관계 형성의 특성을 고려하면, 생애설계교육에서는 부모와 자녀간의 건강한 애착 형성을 위한 교육과 다양한 사람들과 건강한 관계를 형성하도록 지원할 수 있는 교육내용이 중요하게 다루어져할 것으로 보인다. 즉 결혼과 가족생활에 대한 새로운 가치를 발견하도록 지원하는 인구교육에서는 좋은 부모가 되기 위한 부모교육과 다양한 인간들과 건강한 관계를 형성하도록 지원하는 교육내용이 중요한 교육내용으로 다루어져야 함을 시사하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the experiences of original family and social relationships in single women. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were arranged with 18 single women who met the criteria for the present research purpose. We considered only those responses of the interviewees that are directly related to their experiences of original family and social relationships, where the collected data were analyzed in three steps by methods of thematic analysis. As a result of the analysis, the experiences of original family and social relationships in single women could be grouped into six main clusters of themes which may be labeled as (1) themes centered on ʻFamily attachmentʼ, (2) themes centered on ʻSpecial Peopleʼ and (3) themes centered on ʻEstrange relative relationshipʼ. (4) themes centered on ʻSmall social lifeʼ, (5) themes centered on ʻAbsence of a social relationshipshipʼ, (6) themes centered on ʻDrive for freedomʼ. Among the first category of themes of ʻFamily attachmentʼ, we have found three sub-themes such as ʻAdult Baby under parentsʼ careʼ, ʻConfirm of single lifeʼ, ʻIntricate family relationsʼ. As for the second category of themes ʼSpecial Peopleʼ, three sub-themes have been found including ʻI Only Love Mom.ʼ, ʻSister friendʼ, ʻMy lovely nephew or nieceʼ. And for the third category of only one theme ʻEstranged relative relationshipʼ. And for the fourth category of themes ʻSmall social lifeʼ, there were found four sub-themes which include ʻRelationship at workʼ, ʻChat with friendsʼ, ʻKeep oneself aloof from the opposite sexʼ, ʻSingles gather togetherʼ. And for the fifth category of themes ʻAbsence of a social relationshipshipʼ, there were found three sub-themes which include ʻAlone than meetingʼ, ʻLazismʼ, ʻTight daily livesʼ. And for the final category of themes ʻDrive for freedomʼ, there were found two sub-themes which include ʻCaution for attachmentʼ, ʻCaution for entanglementʼ. In all, there are sixteen sub-themes to consider. On the basis of these results, we presented some conclusions on the experiences of original family and social relationships in single women. We also presented some implications of these results on population education and future research.
