국문 초록

본 연구는 「아주르와 아스마르」 속에 담긴 다문화 교육의 내용 및 가치를 분석하기 수행되었다. 이를 위해 첫째, 등장인물의 성격, 역할 및 이미지를 분석하기 위하여 소쉬르의 기호학 개념과 러시아 민속학자 프롭(Propp)의 7가지 행위자 유형(Berger, 2000:44-48)을 중심으로 분석하였다. 둘째, 명시적 구조인 텍스트의 진행 양상과 구조를 알아보기 위해 통합체 분석을 하였다. 통합체 분석은 이야기체를 구성하는 사건들의 연쇄로 텍스트를 보고, 사건들의 결과로서 텍스트를 분석하는 것이다. 셋째, 위의 분석 결과를 기초로 「아주르와 아스마르」에 담긴 다문화교육의 내용을 분석해 보았다. 그 결과 등장인물, 배경, 사건, 시각 이미지 등을 통하여 유럽과 이슬람의 두 문화를 동등하게 다루는 「아주르와 아스마르」에는 인간 평등, 2가지 문화 2배의 지식, 그리고 다른 문화를 이해하는 과정 등이 담겨 있으며, 이러한 다문화교육의 내용들이 다문화 교육의 가치를 보여준다.

영문 초록

Director Michel Oslot s Azur & Asmar(2006) is a world-famous French animated fairytale fantasy feature film, which leads us through the magical and fantastic adventures of the two children, Azur and Asmar. This film suggests the communion of the European world with the Islamic world through the two main characters: Azur, the blue-eyed son of a nobleman, and Asmar, the dark-eyed child of a nurse. Oslot known as the “Magician of Light” creates so beautiful visual images through the European and the Islamic art juxtaposed in the wide screen. Jénane shows that all good knowledge is derived from experience in two cultures. Crapoux hints clearly that there are many different cultures in the world, and the important thing is to provoke peaceful coexistence of these cultures. In the final scene, the wedding marches of the two couples imply the marriage of two different cultures is the smart way to happiness. In this way, the film Azur & Asmar deals directly and explicitly with issues of multiculturalism in its characters, settings and events, so this feature could be helpful to multicultural education, especially critical or antiracist multicultural education for children.
