다문화교육에서 활용되는 문화예술 체험활동에 관한 문화인지론적 연구: 신체성을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 다문화교육에서 활용되는 문화예술 체험활동에 참여한 학생들의 문화인지과정에서 신체성이 갖는 의미를 분석하여 다문화교육에서 문화예술 체험활동이 갖는 의미를 밝히는데 있다. 이 연구에서는 문화예술이 신체를 활용한 감상과 표현이라는 점에 초점을 두고 Wulf의신체성 개념을 토대로 문화예술 체험활동을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 경기도 안산시 (사)국경없는마을 ‘국경없는마을 RPG’에서 15주 동안 문화예술 체험활동을 받은 고등학생 40명을 참여관찰하였으며, 12명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들은 다른 문화권의 문화예술이 가지고 있는 보편성과 특수성을 동시에 경험함으로써 다문화의 본질을몸으로 체험하게 되는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 신체의 감각기관들은 사회·문화적 경험에 의해 만들어지는 것으로 교육적이며 역사적인 특징을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 신체의 감각기관들이 상호작용하면서 감각함으로 문화인지과정을 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 문화예술체험활동으로 다문화교육을 받기 전에 예술강사의 설명과 미션에 대한 안내가 중요한 역할을 했다.

영문 초록

This study aims to signify arts and cultural activities (‘the activities’hereafter) in multicultural education. It analyzed the role of physicality in the cultural awareness process of participants in ‘the activities’. The study analyzed the case subjects based on the theoretical framework by Wulf’s concept of physicality. To explore the research questions, the study observed 40 students who were involved in ‘the activities’ during the 15-week ‘Borderless Village RPG’ program. Semi-structured and in-depth interviews were conducted with twelve case study participants. The following findings are the summaries of the study. First, the students were found to experience the essence of multi-culture when they were simultaneously exposed to the universality and distinctiveness of foreign cultures. Second, one’s sensory organs in the body were found to be adapted through social and cultural experiences where educational and historical features are embedded. Third, one’s sensory organs were found to interact cohesively with foreign cultures as recognized. Fourth, prior to engaging in ‘the activities’ for multicultural education, guidelines provided by instructors’to the participants had played a significant role in facilitating and enhancing learning processes of the participants.
