대학생 성과의 영향요인에 대한 구조적 관계: 고3 시점의 자료를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 경기교육종단연구(Gyeonggi Education Panel Study, GEPS) 3차년도 고등학교 패널자료와 진학진로조사의 대학입학자 자료를 활용하여 대학생 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인들 간의 구조적 관계를 분석하였다. 특히 고3 시점의 자료를 중심으로 대학생 성과의 영향요인을 살펴보았다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가정 내 사회자본, 학교 내 사회자본, 교육포부, 대학진학 준비도가 대학생 성과에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미친 반면 고3 시점의 학업성취 수준은 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 보이지 않았다. 둘째, 가정 내 사회자본과 학교 내 사회자본 모두 대학생 성과에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 가운데 특히 대학생 성과를 포함한 교육포부, 대학진학 준비도, 고3 시점의 학업성취 수준 등 모든 변인들에 있어서 가정 내 사회자본보다 학교 내 사회자본의 영향력이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 교육포부는 학업성취 수준, 대학진학 준비도에 정적인 직접효과를 발휘하였으나 대학생 성과에는 직접효과를 보이지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 다만 교육포부는 고3 시점의 학업성취 수준과 대학진학 준비도를 매개로 대학생 성과에 간접효과를 발휘하는 것으로 분석되었다. 연구 결과에 따른 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다양한 형편으로 인해 가정 내 사회자본을 충분히 축적하지 못한 학생들에게 학교 내 사회자본을 통해 불리함을 보완해 줄 방안을 마련해야 한다. 둘째, 중등교육 현장에서 가정 내 사회자본과 학교 내 사회자본, 교육포부, 대학진학 준비도 등과 같은 입학 전 학생 특성들에 관심을 가지고 이들을 확충시킬 수 있는 교육 프로그램 등을 구안해야 한다.

영문 초록

Drawing on the 3rd wave and career/entrance to college data from Gyeonggi Education Panel Study(GEPS), the structural relationship among the determinants of college student performance was investigated in this study. Especially, the factors influencing college student performance focusing on the data of 3rd grade in high school were examined, The results of the study are as follows: First, social capital in family, social capital in school, educational aspiration and prepare for college had a positive impact on college student performance, while high school grades showed no significant result. Second, while both social capital in family and social capital in school had a positive impact on college student performance, social capital in school is more influential than social capital in family, especially in all variables such as college student performance, educational aspirations, prepare for college, high school grades. Third, educational aspirations showed positive direct effect on high school grades and prepare for college but did not have direct effect on college student performance. However, educational aspirations had indirect effect on college student performance through high school grades and prepare for college. The suggestions of the study are as follows: First, the government and schools should apply social capital in schools for disadvantaged student. Second, schools and teachers should pay attention to the pre-college characteristics of their students and prepare education programs for them.
