교육방법 연구의 동향과 과제

국문 초록

우리나라의 교육 현장에서 일어나고 있는 다양한 교육방법들을 연구하는 학문이 태동한 지 그리 오래되지 않았지만 교육의 문제점을 해결하고 발전을 모색하고 있는 현 시점에서 교육방법의 지난 역사를 되돌아보는 것은 의미가 있을 것이다. 지금까지의 많은 이론들에 의해서 정립되었듯이 교육방법은 교육의 목적을 달성하기 위한 교수학습 상황을 항상 고려하는 실질적인 방법을 고민하고 실천하는 학문이라는 것이다. 바로 이 원점에 서서 우리나라 교육방법의 현 모습과 발전 과제를 모색해볼 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 교육방법을 다룬 전문 학술지인 ‘교육방법연구’ 2003년도에 발간된 15권 1호에서부터 2013년도의 25권 2호에 이르는 총 11권 28호, 217편의 논문을 분석대상으로 하였다. 질적인 교수학습 상황 속에서의 교육방법들이 현재 어떤 경향성을 띠고 있으며 이 속에서 어떤 교수와 학습의 요구가 있는지 교육방법 연구영역 및 적용대상과 연구방법적 측면에서 살펴보았다. 연구 결과 첫째, 교육방법의 연구영역 및 적용대상 분석에서는 지금까지 10여 년의 기간 동안 주로 ‘교수방법’의 ‘학습지도 모델 연구’에서 많은 연구가 이뤄져 왔다. 둘째, 교육방법의 연구방법에서 지금까지 10여 년의 기간 동안 ‘조사연구’의 방법으로 많은 연구가 수행되었다. 향후 사례연구 및 문화기술연구와 같은 질적 연구들이 보다 다양한 연구영역에서 이뤄질 필요가 있다. 또한 지금까지 고등교육을 주로 대상으로 하던 경향에서 벗어나 유아와 성인을 대상으로 하는 교육방법 연구를 해야 할 것이다. 교육방법의 의미고찰을 전제로 한 기업교육과 같은 다양한 성인교육에서의 교육방법이 필요하고, 평생교육과 같은 범위로까지도 확대되어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the research tendency of Korean Association for Educational Methodology by analyzing the research articles published in “Journal of Educational Methodology” which is the representative journal in the field of educational methodology in Korea and finally put through the advanced proposals for educational methodology. The total articles were 217 which have been published for the last over 10 years (2003-2013). We analyzed the articles based on two criteria: research domains, research methodologies. The results of this study were as follows: First in the part of research domains, the teaching methodology accounted for 71. 4% (155 articles) of the 217 articles. The proportions of other domains were educational counseling (13. 8%, 30 articles), educational evaluation (9. 2%, 20), educational curriculum (2. 8%, 6), and educational administration (2. 8%, 6). In the teaching methodology domain, the study of learning guidance model accounted for 38. 2% (83 articles). It shows that Korean educational methodology research has been mostly conducted on the teaching methodology, especially learning guidance model. Second, in the aspect of research methods, survey study accounted for 45. 2% (98 articles) of the total 217 articles. The proportions of other research methods were as follows: literature study 14. 3%, development research type I 11. 5%, quasi-experiment study 10. 6%, case study/qualitative study 7. 8%, experiment study 6. 9%, development research type II 3. 2%, cost effectiveness study 0. 5%, and others 0%. It is needed to be researched in the field of more qualitative study than quantitative one and also to expand the research domain and target learners in the future.
