근접발달영역과 교수학습의 효과성 연구

국문 초록

Vygotsky는 근접발달영역이라는 개념을 제기하면서 학습자의 실제적 발달수준뿐 아니라 잠재적인 발달수준에 관심을 갖게 하였다. 본 연구는 아동의 근접발달영역과 실제 학업성취도와의 관계, 근접발달영역을 고려한 학습의 방법과 그의 효과성에 대한 검증을 하고자 하였다. 구체적인 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 요약 될 수 있다. 첫째, 근접발달영역과 학업성취도 간에는 정적인 상관 관계를 보였다. 이는 근접발달영역의 평가가 학습자의 능력을 진단할 수 있는 구인이 될 수 있음을 의미하며 학습자에 대한 정확한 진단은 역동적 평가를 통한 학습자의 잠재적 능력을 포함하는 것이 되어야 완전할 수 있음을 나타내주고 있다. 둘째, 역동적 평가를 통한 근접발달영역을 고려한 학습 형태의 효과성을 입증하였다. 이는 수업상황에서 역동적 평가는 아동들의 잠재적 능력을 발전시키는데 도움이 될 수 있음을 시사해 준다. 셋째, 학습자의 개별적 수준에 따른 근접발달영역을 고려한 학습의 효과로서 낮은 능력집단의 학생일수록 도움을 더욱 많이 필요로 하며 문제해결전략에 대한 교정과 정보가 필요하고 그것이 효과적임이 입증되었다. 본 연구는 근접발달영역의 개념이 학교교육에서 구체적으로 적용되고 실천될 수 있는 가능성을 알아보고자 한 것으로서 아동의 잠재적 발달 가능성에 대한 고려와 진단, 역동적 평가를 통한 교수학습의 효과성에 대한 새로운 가능성과 문제를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Vygotsky's zone of proximal development has many implications in that it suggests not only a variety of actual developmental levels, but also the levels of potential development. This research will focus on verifying the relationships between a child's ZDP(Zone of Proximal Development), actual scholastic achievement, and learning methods regarding zone of proximal development and its effectiveness. The specific results of this research are summarized as follows: First, the zone of proximal development and achievement showed positive correlations. This refers to the diagnosis of the learner's ability, and idea that the precise diagnosis indicates completeness only when the potential ability of the learner is included in the dynamic evaluation. Second it proved the effectiveness of learning style which accounts the zone of proximal development (ZPD) through the dynamic evaluation. It implies that this dynamic evaluation can be helpful to develop the potentiality of children. Third, it found the effectiveness of learning regarding the zone of proximal development according to the individual differences of the learner. Low ability groups of students need more help and require revision and information on problem solving strategies. The goal of this study is to examine the possibility that the concept of ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development) could be effectively applied and actualized in the field of school education. Also, the study proposes fresh insights and issues about the benefits of teaching and learning by diagnosing the potential of children's development and using this information through dynamic evaluation.
