국문 초록

본 연구에서는 토의 토론을 활용한 지속가능발전교육 프로그램을 개발하고, 초등학교 4, 5학년을 대상으로 적용하여 초등학생의 의사소통능력과 비판적 사고력에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 프로그램의 내용은 기후변화, 에너지, 환경문제, 생물 다양성 등을 다루었으며, 각각의 주제에 대하여 적절한 토의 토론기법을 적용하여 수업을 설계하였다. 본 연구결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 토의 토론을 활용한 지속가능발전교육 프로그램은 전체적으로 의사소통능력 향상에 효과적이었으며, 세부 영역별로는 언어적 의사소통과 비언어적 의사소통 영역에 모두 유의미한 향상이 있었다. 둘째, 토의 토론을 활용한 지속가능발전교육 프로그램은 비판적 사고기능 향상에 효과적이었으며, 세부 영역별로는 사실과 의견 구분하기, 한 문제를 다양한 관점으로 조망하기, 주장이나 진술에 게재된 편견 탐지하기 영역에 있어서 유의미한 향상이 있었다. 셋째, 토의 토론을 활용한 지속가능발전교육 프로그램은 전체적으로 비판적 사고 성향 향상에 긍정적이었으며, 세부 영역별로는 건전한 회의성, 지적 정직성, 객관성, 체계성, 유보성의 모든 영역에 유의미한 향상이 있었다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 토의 토론을 활용한 지속가능발전교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 의사소통능력과 비판적 사고력 향상에 긍정적인 효과를 가져왔음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to develop a sustainable development education program using discussion debate and apply it to elementary school 4th and 5th graders to investigate the effect of elementary school students on communication skills and critical thinking skills. The contents of the program covered climate change, energy, environmental problems, biodiversity, etc., and the lessons were designed by applying appropriate discussion debate techniques to each topic. The results of this study were as follows. First, the sustainable development education program using discussion debate was effective in improving communication skills overall, and there was a significant improvement in verbal communication and nonverbal communication areas. Second, the sustainable development education program using the discussion debate was effective in improving the critical thinking function. Third, the sustainable development education program using the discussion debate was positive for improvement of critical thinking tendency, and there was significant improvement in all areas of sound skepticism, intelligent honesty, objectivity, systematicity, and reservationability. Based on the above results, it was found that the sustainable development education program using discussion debate had a positive effect on improving the communication skills and critical thinking skills of elementary school students.
