국문 초록

지경학(Geoeconomics)은 국가들이 자국의 국익을 추구하고 지정학적 힘을 증대시키는 21세기 글로벌 질서의 새로운 특징으로 부상하고 있다. 본 연구는 다음 세 가지 주요 영역-1) 지경학과 한국의 국가 통상정책 간의 관계, 2) 국제정치경제(IPE) 질서의 틀 안에서 메가FTA인 역내포괄적경제동반자협정(RCEP)의 정치적·경제적 중요성, 3) RCEP의 지경학적 경쟁 및 미중 전략적 경쟁-에 초점을 맞추었다. 특히 지경학은 글로벌 거버넌스의 연계성, 통합된 전략 및 경제 정책, 지정학의 상호 보완성과 밀접하게 연결되어 있다. 한국은 RCEP의 출범, 발전, 제도화 과정에서 적극적으로 참여하고 있다. RCEP는 회원국들의 경제, 지역적 입지, 국제적 영향력을 유지하고 증진하는 역할을 한다. 이러한 의미에서 한국의 동아시아 통상정책 및 RCEP 협상 전략은 경제적 이익의 확대, 네트워크 강화, 무역 규범의 업그레이드에 중점을 두고 있다.

영문 초록

Geoeconomics has emerged as a feature of the twenty-first century global order through which countries pursue national interests and increase geopolitical strength. This research concentrated on three key areas: 1) the relationship between geoeconomics and South Korea's national trade policy; 2) the political and economic significance of the mega-FTA RCEP within the framework of the International Political Economy (IPE) order; and 3) The geoeconomic rivalry of the RCEP and the strategic confrontation between the US and China. Geoeconomic strategy is interconnected with the connectivity of global governance, integrated strategic and economic policies, and the mutual supplementation of geopolitics. South Korea has supported the Mega-FTA Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in East Asia through its emergence, development, and institutionalization. RCEP works to maintain and promote members’ economies, regional positions, and international influence. South Korea’s East Asian trade policy and negotiation strategy for RCEP focus on expanding economic benefits, reinforcing networks, and upgrading trade norms.
