국문 초록

이 연구는 생태적 지속가능성과 교육철학의 연관성 및 교육 철학적 의미를 고찰하고, 이에 근거하여 생태적 지속가능성을 위한 교육적 방향을 제시하였다. ‘생태적 지속가능성’의 개념은 인간이 자신을 둘러싼 폭넓은 자연환경 및 사회 환경과 더불어 계속하여 안정적이며 조화롭게 공존, 번영하는데 요구되는 필요들을 충족시키며 열린 상호작용을 추구하는 것이다. 생태적 지속가능성의 차원에서의 교육철학은, 자아가 더 큰 우리의 조각이며 그 연결망 속에서 인생 전반에 걸쳐 끊임없이 재구성된다는 의식이 기본이 된다. 더 큰 ‘우리’는 인간, 사물, 자연, 기술, 문화 등을 포함한다. 이 교육철학은 불확실성과 변화 가능성에 주목하며 각 주체의 창의성과 감성을 수용하는 가운데 상호 간의 조화와 협력을 추구하는 인간성을 지향한다. 이러한 교육철학에 근거하여, 생태적 지속가능성을 위한 교육의 방향은, 첫째 고정관념, 편견, 이기심을 극복하고, 성, 인종, 계층, 종 등의 차이를 인식하며 타자의 요구에 민감하게 반응하면서 자신의 관점을 수정하며, 외부 세계에 대해 적응적 견해를 키워가는 자세를 함양하여야 할 것이다. 둘째, 생태적 지속가능성의 교육은 정답과 해결을 중시하는 기존의 방식에서 탈피하여, 실제 삶의 맥락에서 문제 자체를 고민하면서 세계와 더불어 느끼며 변화해나가는 사고방식을 키워주는 방향을 지향해야 한다. 셋째, 학생들은 매 일상에서 경험하는 다양한 사례에서 더 나은 환경을 창조하는 방법을 숙고하고 실천하도록 해야 한다. 이를 위해, 환경 문제, 사회정의의 문제 등 자신이 살아가는 세계의 다양한 문제의 실태와 원인을 비판적으로 이해하고 그 해결을 위한 다양한 대안의 가능성과 기대효과를 심도 있게 검토하는 비판적 사고를 키워주어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Based on the suggested educational directions for realizing ecological sustainability, this study examined how ecological sustainability relates to educational philosophy and the meaning of educational philosophy fromfrom this perspective,e. The concept of ecological sustainability, ’, which has emerged to overcome this problem, is to pursue open interaction while meeting humans’ needs to continue to coexist and prosper stably and harmoniously along with the wide natural and social environment surrounding them. Educational philosophy in terms of ecological sustainability is based on the consciousness that the self is a part of the larger “we” and is constantly reconstructed throughout life in that network. The larger “we” includes humans, things, nature, technology, and culture. Based on this educational philosophy, the specific direction of ecological sustainability education should first overcome stereotypes, prejudice, and selfishness; recognize differences in gender, race, class, and species; modify one's perspective; and foster an adaptive view of the outside world. Second, ecological sustainability education should move away from the existing method of emphasizing answers and solutions and aim to develop a way of thinking that feels and changes with the world while thinking about the problem itself in the context of real life. Third, students should consider and practice ways to create a better environment in the various cases that they experience daily. To this end, critical thinking should be developed to understand the reality and causes of various problems in the world, such as environmental and social justice problems, and to thoroughly review the possibilities and expected effects of various alternatives to solve them.
