영문 초록

Olfactory neuroblastoma is a rare disease that occurs in the nasal cavity. It accounts about 3-5% of the sinonasal malignancy, and the main treatment is complete surgical removal. Conventional craniofacial resection was the treatment of choice in the past which is combined with craniotomy approach for reconstruction of the skull base defect by using the pericranial flap. It has considerable morbidity resulting from resection of the soft tissue in the facial skeleton and possible brain injury due to retraction of the frontal lobe. Endoscopic assisted craniofacial resection has an advantage that it avoids the direct resection of the craniofacial skeleton thus lowering the morbidity and it provides the clear magnified view that tumor margin can be clearly visualized. However, for resection of the intracranial lesion and reconstruction of the defect, combined open craniotomy approach is necessary as in conventional method. Since the development of endoscopic reconstruction of the skull base, purely endoscopic craniofacial resection became possible. Here we report two cases of olfactory neuroblastoma treated by endoscopic craniofacial resection.
