영문 초록

Koreans’ perception and embodiment of Ohodo(Jeonhengdo) of China were examined in prior part. Ohodo was geographically close to Korea, and it was a seaway to China. Because historic events related with Ohodo matched with Chosun gentry’ ideological intention, Ohodo drew attention from gentry and writers from earlier time. Geographically Ohodo had beeline distance on the same latitude as Hongseong, Korea. Though there were inaccurate knowledges that Ohodo was brought up in Buan, Chonnam and seen from Baengnyeongdo, natural climate and folklore at Ohodo were specifically described by visiting there, including especially temples, portraits of the deceased, and sacrificial tables at Jeonheng. It was revealed that in late Chosun dynasty groundless stories about this island were approached thorough historical research. From the earlier time, poems were written about Ohodo, stories and people related with this island. Specifically in late Koryo Dynasty shifting to Chosun dynasty people had higher concern about Ohodo. Prominent scholars, writers, and politicians , such as Jeong Mong-ju, Lee Sungin, Jeong Do-jeon, Lee Cheom at that time composed various poems about this island. Since then poets and calligraphers had written Ohodo poems in which Jeonheng and his family were consoled and their rightous deaths were compared to Noh Jungnyeon or Hakui and Shukusei, the loyal brothers of Chinese lore. Among those poems, Lee Sungin’s Ohodo poem was given a glowing account by his master, Lee Sek and roused his alumnus, Jeong Do-jeon’s jealousy, which caused various affairs and stories. Seo Geojeong mentioned this in his book 『Dongin Sihwa』. This story regenerated interests from Yun Geun-su, Yang Gyeongwoo, and Heo Gyun. This content was reproduced in 『Seungsu Sihwa』, 『Jaeho Sihwa』. Kim Suhang achieved recognition with his Ohodo poem from a writer, Taekdang Lee Sik at that time. Taking this oportunity, his literary talent was recognized and became a foundation for his successful life.
