국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 국가교육과정의 핵심역량이 교실수업에 구현될 수 있도록 하기 위한 뉴질랜드의 지원 사례와 그 내용을 탐색하고 시사점을 도출하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 국내외 선행연구, 핵심역량 설정과 관련한 뉴질랜드의 정책 연구 문서, 국가교육과정 기준 문서들, 교육과정 온라인 지원 웹사이트를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 뉴질랜드는 국가교육과정에 핵심역량을 도입하는 과정에서부터 교사들의 다양한 참여를 독려하여 핵심역량에 대한 인식을 형성해 왔다. 그리고 교사가 교실수업에서 핵심역량을 구현하도록 하는 데 있어서는 핵심역량에 대한 개념정립; 교육과정기준과 핵심역량의 통합 방법; 역량 신장을 위한 활동 계획 및 실행 전략; 핵심역량의 평가 방안; 역량교육을 위한 학교장, 교사, 학부모의 역할; 교사 수업 연구 방향 등의측면에서 실질적으로 도움이 될 수 있는 자료와 지침들을 제공함으로써 뉴질랜드 교육이 지향하는 핵심역량 함양 교육의 실현 가능성을 높이고 있다는 점에서 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다

영문 초록

This study aims to explore how the New Zealand Ministry of Education has supported teachers for realizing key competencies of national curriculum in school classes, and to find implications. In order to achieve this purpose, I analyzed preceding research papers conducted by South Korea and New Zealand, New Zealand’s policy research documents on key competencies set-up, national curriculum standards documents and online curriculum-support web site. Findings of the research have revealed that New Zealand encouraged teachers in various participations when the development stage of competency-based national curriculum document, and this process contributed to improvement of teachers’ understanding on key competencies. In addition, when it comes to how to help teachers to realize key competencies in their own classes, New Zealand has presented practically useful guidelines and materials on establishment of concepts of key competencies; ways to integrate curriculum standards with key competencies; plans and strategies to strengthen key competencies; directions to assess key competencies; roles of school principals, teachers and parents; and directions in teachers’ study on class work. In these ways, New Zealand has been increasing their possibility of realizing competency-based education which New Zealand education has been pursuing.
