영문 초록

The object of this article is to analyze the debates of the state-business relations in development theories and explore the institutional conditions for growth-oriented state-business relations. Modernization theory and dependency theory have focused on the role of the state than that of business. Neoclassical economics has emphasized the negative aspects of the state intervention and state-business relations on the basis of rent-seeking theory. However, the developmental state theory has stressed the positive aspects of state-business relations and has focused on finding the institutional conditions for effective state-business relations. Based on the developmental state theory, this paper also analysed the conditions for effective state-business relations in the structural and the relational aspects respectively. State autonomy and existence of the business associations are necessary in the structural terms. Transparency and trust are also needed in the relational terms.
