국문 초록

효과적인 군 자살 예방정책의 수립은 자살현상을 명확하게 설명할 수 있는 이론의 정립이 선행되어야 한다. 그러나 기존 자살이론들은 자살요인이 존재함에도불구하고 대부분의 사람들이 자살을 시도하지 않는다는 점, 즉 허위양성의 문제를 해결할 수 없다는 단점이 있다. 이 문제를 해결한 Joiner의 대인관계심리이론은 최근 국내외 학계에서 가장 수준 높은 자살이론으로 인정받고 있다. 이에 자살에 관한 대인관계심리이론의 주요 개념들을 설명하고 이 개념들과 군 자살과의연관성에 대해 살펴보았다. 더불어 Joiner의 대인관계심리이론에 기초하여 효과적인 군자살 예방 대책에 관한 정책적 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

A good theory of suicidal behaviors is a prerequisite for generating effective programs and policies to prevent military suicide. Nonetheless, existing theories of suicide conspicuously suffer from type 1 error, meaning that the vast majority of people do not commit suicide even if the alleged causes of suicide do exist. Interpersonal psychological theory of suicidal behavior by Joiner has successfully solved this problem, thereby commanding a superior position in the field of suicidology in recent years. In the current manuscript, the authors have elaborated on the major concepts of the theory and applied them to the military context. Based on the theoretical arguments, we also have evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of the existing military policies. Finally, we have offered policy implications based on the theoretical concepts of the theory.
