국문 초록

본고는 특유의 미학적 스타일로 현대 중국 사회의 어두운 이면을 인상 깊게 성찰해온 감독 지아장커의 <江湖兒女>를 중심으로 현대화 이전의 시간과 주변부화되는 공간들, 그리고 주류 세계로부터 밀려나는 사람들을 향한 성찰에 대해 분석, 고찰한 것이다. <江湖兒女>는 마치 한 작가가 장편소설을 생산해내는 원리와도 같이 지아장커의 전작들의 세계관과 스타일, 영화를 만들어왔던 오랜 시간들이 집대성되어 탄생된 영화라 할 수 있다. 더불어 지아장커는 장르의 관습을 창의적으로 변주하는 시도와 함께 전형적 장르영화들에서 주변적 인물에 지나지 않았던 여성 인물의 이야기를 서사의 중심부로 끌어들여와 기존의 영화세계에서 흔히 볼 수 없었던 캐릭터성을 구현해내었다. 이와 같은 <江湖兒女>는 현대화의 기치와 세월의 변화 속에서도 여전히 지켜내야 할 유의미한 가치들이 우리 곁에 존재한다는 것을 설파하며 이로써 중국의 지나가 버린 시간과 주변부를 향한 위안의 서사를 제시한다. 또한 대중으로 하여금 미끄러지고 변주되는 <江湖兒女>의 장르미학 사이로 현실의 수많은 균열과 주름을 발견하도록 하고 있다.

영문 초록

This article analyzed and considered Chinese past time and spaces being made into environment division and Jia Zhangke’s style of introspection towards the people ousted from the mainline world focusing on Ash Is Purest White(江湖儿女) of the director Jia Zhangke who has impressively contemplated the dark underbelly of modern Chinese society with a unique aesthetic style. Ash Is Purest White(江湖儿女) is a film in which the long times that have made the world and films of Jia Zhangke’s original works were collected and born just like a principle that a worker produces a novel. But Jia Zhangke applied genre so that the public could easily accept the subject consciousness of films, and also by creating a new woman character image with an attempt to play variation of its custom imaginatively, constructed a mature dimensional narration about realities. The narration of Ash Is Purest White(江湖儿女) like this makes audience discover numerous real-life wrinkles through genre esthetics gliding and playing variation. And by drawing woman characters who were just marginal characters from typical genre films into the center of narration, it makes them incarnate characteristics which could not be seen in the existing characters, and by reproducing the still meaningful values she keeps, it presents Chinese past time and narration of comfort towards margin.
