노인의 건강 특성과 삶의 만족도 관계에서 우울의 매개효과 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 노인의 건강특성이 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는지 분석하고 그 과정에서 우울의 매개효과 검증을 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 국민노후 보장패널 조사 자료를 활용하였으며, 특히 65세 이상 노인을 장애 진단 여부에 따라 장애노인과 비 장애노인으로 구분하여 연구 대상으로 설정하였다. 독립변수는 건강특성으로서 신체적 건강상태, 심리적 건강상태, 만성질환 여부, ADL, IADL 등으로 구성하였다. 매개변수는 심리상태인 우울로 하였으며, 삶의 만족도는 종속변수로 하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같이 나타났다. 첫째, 삶의 만족도는 비 장애노인이 장애노인에 비해 상대적으로 높게 나타났으며, 우울감 역시 비 장애노인이 장애노인에 비해 더 긍정적이었다. 둘째, 장애노인은 신체적 건강상태와 심리적 건강상태가 삶의 만족도에 유의미 하였으며, 비 장애노인은 신체적 건강상태, 심리적 건강상태, 만성질환여부, ADL, IADL이 유의미하였다. 셋째, 장애노인은 심리적 건강상태만이 부분 매개효과가 있는 반면, 비 장애노인은 신체적 건강상태, 심리적 건강상태, 만성질환 그리고 IADL에서 부분 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 장애노인과 비 장애노인을 구분하여 삶의 만족도를 향상시키는 방안을 제안하였다. 장애노인은 장애로 인한 심리적 건강을 회복시켜주는 정책 방안, 비 장애노인은 급격한 노화에 따른 건강 문제에 대한 적극적 지원 방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting the life satisfaction of the elderly and to verify the mediating effect of the psychological status. This study used the survey data of the Korean Retirement and Income Study. The elderly are defined as persons aged 65 and above and divided into two groups, those with disabilities and those without disabilities. The results of the analysis are as follows. Firstly, life satisfaction was higher among the elderly without disabilities than among the elderly with disabilities and psychological status was more positive among the elderly without disabilities than the eldery with disabilities. Secondly, among the elderly with disabilities physical health status and psychological health status were significant factors with regard to life satisfaction, while among the elderly without disabilities physical health status, psychological health status, chronic diseases, ADL and IADL were significant factors. Thirdly, psychological health status turned out to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between psychological status and life satisfaction among the elderly with disabilities. Physical health status, psychological health status, chronic diseases and IADL turned out to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between psychological status and life satisfaction among the elderly without disabilities. Based on these findings, this study made some suggestions for the improvement of life satisfaction by focusing on the distinction between the elderly with and without disabilities.
