과학영재의 부적응적 완벽주의와 학업무기력 관계에서 학업적 자기효능감과 실패공포의 매개효과

국문 초록

이 연구는 중등 과학영재의 부적응적 완벽주의가 학업적 자기효능감과 실패공포를 매개로 학업무기력에 미치는 효과를 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 수도권 대학부설 영재교육기관에서 영재교육을 받고 있는 중등 영재학생 180명을 대상으로 하였으며, 중학교 1학년이 87명, 중학교 2학년이 93명이었다. 기술통계 결과 자료의 정규성을 가정 할 수 있었으며, 측정모형의 확인적 요인분석에서도 적합한 모형임을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구모형의 적합도를 분석한 결과 양호한 적합도를 보였으나 부적응적 완벽주의에서 학업무기력으로의 경로는 유의하지 않아서 이 경로를 제거한 후 모형을 수정하여 최종 연구모형을 제시하였다. 최종모형의 적합도 또한 양호한 적합도를 보였으며, 부적응적 완벽주의는 학업적 자기효능감에는 유의한 부적 영향을 보인 반면 실패공포에는 유의한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 학업무기력에는 학업적 자기효능감은 유의한 부적 영향을, 실패공포는 유의한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 부적응적 완벽주의와 학업무기력에서 학업적 자기효능감과 실패공포는 완전매개하고 있었으며 모두 유의한 간접효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 중등 과학영재의 학업무기력을 설명하는데 학업적 자기효능 감과 실패공포가 중요한 요인임을 밝힘으로써, 영재들의 특성을 이해하고 나아가 영재들의 상담자료에 유용한 기초자료로 제공될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and academic helplessness in scientifically gifted students, with the mediating effects of academic self-efficacy and fear of failure. The subjects of this study were 180 middle school scientifically gifted students in a university-affiliated gifted education center. Descriptive statistics were used to assume normality of the data, and most of the model fit indexes were acceptable. Results showed that our hypothesized structural equation model fitted the data well based on the fit indices. But the path from maladaptive perfectionism to academic helplessness was not significant, thereby having removed this path and suggested the final model as the modified model. The final research model demonstrated a good fit for the data, and maladaptive perfectionism showed a statistically significant negative effect on academic helplessness and a statistically significant positive effect on fear of failure. A statistically significant negative effect of academic self-efficacy and a statistically significant positive effect of fear of failure on academic helplessness were found. Finally, academic self-efficacy and fear of failure were found to fully mediate between maladaptive perfectionism and academic helplessness, and both of which showed significant indirect effects on each other. The results of this research have shown academic self-efficacy and fear of failure to be very important factors in academic helplessness of scientifically gifted students, and are expected to help understand traits of the gifted and used for counselling gifted students.
