The purpose of this study is to examine and to analyze the nutritional status, eating habit and food preference of the national throwing players. This study will contribute to improve the athletic ability of player, providing the basic data for recommendable food component. The subjects for this research are composed of nine members of four male and five female national throwing players. This study used the CAN(Computer-Aided Nutritional Analysis)program in order to analyze a nutrient intake and recommended diet allowance per nutrient intake. The results are follow: 1. The average age of subject is 23.3 years old male and 25.4 years old female; and average weight is 99.4kg for male and 77.6kg for female; and average height is 183cm for male and 168.2cm for female. 2. In case of food and food preference, the highest food preference for male players was watermelon as 1 point, and that for female players include Denjang Zzigae, Kimchi Zzigae, and Kimchi as 1.2 points. In case of the highest preference of fruits for both male and female players were the strawberry as 1.2 points, the watermelon as 1.3 points and the grape as 1.6 points. On the other hand, the lowest food preference were beans cooked in soysauce for male as 3.8 points and snack for female as 4.0points. 3. The eating habits of subject were 60.3 points for male player and 62.8 points for female player. It does not have problems, and yet still need to improve. The distribution of average points were Excellent as 40% for male and 31% female, adequate as 34% for male and 53% for female, and Inadequate as 26% for male and 16% for female. 4. A nutrient intake per day of subject was 600% higher than that of average adult. In particular, subject’s Phosphorus was 4213.3mg for male and 2379.6mg for female, and it indicated much higher than average adult’s recommendation. In case of Vitamin B1 intake, male subject was 6.633mg and female subject was 4mg. It was higher than average adult’s recommendation; 1.3mg for male and 1.0mg for female. 5. In case of a ratio for 3 major nutrient intakes, the carbohydrate of subject was 65.6% for male and 66.7% for female. It was a little higher than a recommendation for average player;50-55%. The fat of subject was 14.1% for male and 14.6% for female. It was a little lower than a recommendation of 30% for average player and 20% for adult. 6. In case of ratio of animal protein intake, male player was 60.3% and female player was 59.2%. Female player had higher ratio of animal fat intake than that of male player (male 64.3% / female 69.4%), and higher carbohydrate than that of male player(male 53.5% / female 61%). A ratio of vegetable iron intake(male 57.4% / female 66.6%) was higher than that of animal iron intake(male 42.7% / female 32.4%).
