여말선초 학자들의 『周易』경전에 대한 상수역학 및 의리역학적 이해

국문 초록

본고는 여말 왕조교체기 학자들의 [주역(周易)]에 대한 이해가 어떤 역철학사적 특징을 가지는가를 경학과 경세론 사이의 상관관계를 중심으로, 그리고 상수역학과 의리역학을 어느정도 강조하는가를 중심으로 고찰하였다. 백문보(白文寶), 이색(李穡), 권근(權近)은 [주역]을 의리역학적 관점에서 해석하기도 하지만, 상수역학적 관점에서 이해하기도 하였다. 반면 정몽주는 [주역] 팔괘를 상징하는 사물의 결합으로부터 실천을 위한 표준을 이끌어내는 것으로서, 권근은 정이(程頤) [역전]의 중정론(中正論)과 비응론(比應論)의 해석 방법의 영향을 받아 의리역학적 관점에서 [주역]을 이해하였다. 정도전은 괘효사 가운데 군주에 해당하는 오효와 재상, 대신 및 신하에 해당하는 사효, 삼효, 이효에 대한 정이의 주석을 인용함으로써 군주와 재상, 대신을 중심으로 한 정치적 교화를 위한 덕목과 수양의 방법론을 제시하였다. 반면에 이종학은 자효(慈孝)가 도덕적 실천의 토대가 된다는 점에서, 변계량은 시와 문장에서 [주역]을 정치적 교화와 연관하여 해석하였다. 요컨대, 고려시대 성리학이 도입되기 이전 [주역]에 대한 학자들의 이해는 기본적으로 상수역학적 요소를 가지면서도 동시에 도덕적 실천과 연관하여 [주역] 구절을 해석하는 것이 일반적인 경향이었다. 이러한 경향은 정이의 [역전]이 도입된 여말 선초의 이후 심화되는 경향을 보인다. 그러나 의리역학적인 [주역] 해석이 주류를 형성하고 있는 것처럼 보이면서도 여말선초에 [주역]을 연구한 학자들 중 일부는 여전히 [주역]의 본령이 상수와 의리를 겸전하는 데 있다는 것을 이해함으 로써 상수역학에 대한 관심과 탐색을 지속하였다.

영문 초록

This essay investigated that understanding of the I Ching of scholars acted in the Dynasty transition period of the last of Goryeo has any characteristic with a correlation between the study of Confucian classics and administration theory as the center, and examined they the emblemo-numerology of I and moral-principle science of I to some degree. While Paek Moon Bo regarded material forces as the original substance of universe, he understood principle as logic by which change of things is regulated change of things by relying on material forces. Lee Saek explained Limitlessness(無極) and material force (氣) in the cosmology and emphasized the emblemo-numerological foundation for the purpose of the moral practical object with regard to the Book of Changes[周易]. Kwon Keun interpreted minutely number of heaven and earth of Ji Ci chuan in the Zhou I Qian Jian Lu and suggested emblemonumerological viewpoint through commentation of several picture of Hetu-Luoshu and Diagrams and Explain for Beginner. Summing up, understanding of scholar about the Book of Changes before acceptance of Neo-Confucianism in the Koryeo Dynasty has primarily elemant of emblemo-numerology of I Ching, on the other hand interpreted generally sentence of hexagram and lines of the Book of Changes in relation to moral practice. According to this tendency, study of the Book of Changes in the end of the Koryeo Dynasty and early Chosun Dynasty was intensified after acceptance of Commentary of I Ching of Jeong Yi. But in this period, part of scholars studied the Book of Changes continued attention and exploration of emblemo-numerology of I Ching by understanding the its proper province lies in being perfect of emblemo-nummber and moral principle. These tradition and attention with which one understands the Book of Changes in the viewpoint of emblemo-numerology of I Ching was succeeded to Yeokhakgemongyohae of Se Jo, Choe Hang, Han Gaehee, Hunminjeongeum of Jeong in Jee, and apriority theory of I Ching of Seo Kyeondeok etc.
