Effects that Chiropractic Manipulation on Posture by Measuring Foot Pressure

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of one time chiropractic manipulation of cervic, thoracic, and pelvic manipulation on the correction of posture and side balance in students at twenties without spinal anomalies and abnormal posture through measuring foot pressure. Prior to chiropractic intervention, the foot pressure was measured by a foot scanner, and then the posture images were analyzed by Associate Platinum V7+ followed by Foot Levelers. Chiropractic manipulations were conducted on 24 students using spinal facilitation technique. The foot pressure and posture images were re-measured and the comparative analysis was performed to identify the difference between pre-treatment and post-treatments. The percentage of distribution of the left foot pressure increased to 49.51% of post-treatment from 47.54% of pre-treatment; the percentage of distribution of the right foot pressure decreased to 50.4% of post-treatment from 52.39 of pre-treatment. There is a statistical significance between pre- and posttreatments( p < 0.01). Larger value of MAD means that right/left balance is far from the value of 1 as a gold standard, while smaller value means it is near the gold standard, 1. As the value of MAD before chiropractic adjustment has decreased from 0.145 to 1.005 after the adjustment, represented that by this, foot pressure left/right balance reached nearer to gold standard value, 1 by 59% extent. It also means that chiropractic adjustment has contributed for correcting equilibrium of both sides. Chiropractic cervic., thoracic, and pelvic manipulation exhibits positive effect on the students without abnormal posture. The results of this study warrant a long-term chiropractic intervention on the same condition.
