국문 초록

자연환경에서 광물의 생물 혹은 무생물적인 화학작용은 많은 환경 및 지질 작용 즉, 콜로이드의 이동과정, 광물 표면 에서의 화학작용, 유해한 무기물 유기물의 이동 및 변이과정, 폐기물 처리장의 안정성, 퇴적층의 속성작용 그리고 해양 표면의 구조에 영향을 미친다. 이러한 중요성에 비추어 발간하고자 하는 이번 특별호는 광물의 무생물/생물학적 반응 및 혁신적인 연구방법을 토론하고 집대성하여 지표환경에서의 광물 반응과정 및 원소 순환을 이해하고자 한다. 특히, 생물- 광물의 반응 작용, 바이오 미네랄리제이션, 광물 형성과정 및 메커니즘, 환경지구화학, 혁신적인 연구방법 및 응용에 주 안점을 두었다.

영문 초록

Minerals undergo abiotic and biotic reactions in natural environments. These mineral reactions impact a number of geological and environmental processes, such as sediment diagenesis, colloid transport, mineral surface chemistry, the mobility and the ultimate fate of organic and inorganic contaminants, integrity of waste repositories, and stability of the ocean floor. This special volume is designed to bring together the leading research on abiotic/biotic reactions of minerals, and those who apply spectroscopic/microscopic techniques to the study of chemical reactions in surface environments. Specifically, the microbe-mineral interactions, mineral surface geochemistry, biomineralization, process of mineral formation, and development of novel methods and/or novel applications of existing techniques to study these processes were discussed.
