영문 초록

The content of phenolics in Camellia japonica leaves (CJL) collected in different regions (Wando and Jangheung Counties) was compared. CJL MeOH extracts after acidic hydrolysis were analyzed by ODS-HPLC (254 nm) and the contents of five phenolics (gallic acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, quercetin, and kaempferol) were calculated using an external standard method. The content of quercetin was higher in the Wando samples (167.49 ± 26.67 mg/100 g dry wt.) than in the Jangheung samples (98.48 ± 10.38 mg/100 g dry wt.). The contents of kaempferol and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid showed a higher tendency in the Wando samples than in the Jangheung samples. On the other hand, gallic acid and 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid were detected at similar levels. Therefore, CJL grown in coastal areas may more beneficial constituents than those grown in inland area.
