영문 초록

This study was designed to observe histopathologic course after injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to the superior cavity of temporomandibular joint of rabbit. In this study, 12 rabbits weighting about 2.0kg were selected. Four animals were preserved for control group, and 8 animals were divided into 2 groups composing of 4 animals in each group. Saline was injected in the superior cavity of temporomandibular joint on the control group, 10 mg/ml of LPS and diluted LPS (10 μg/ml) were injected in the superior cavity of temporomandibular joint of experimental group. The experimental animals were sacrificed consecutively on the third day, first week, second week, and fourth week after and the temporomandibular joint were dissected out carefully to produce tissue specimen. And then the specimen were routinely prepared for microscopic examination. The results were as follows: 1. The synovial membranes and retrodiscal tissues were changed at the initial stage of the experimental period in all groups, but tissues of the condylar bone and cartilage, mandibular fossa and articular disc were not changed by the lipopolysaccharide. 2. Inflammatory cells were appeared in the temporomandibular joint cavity at the initial stage of the lipopolysaccharide injection group. 3. The synovial membrane was destroyed at the initial stage, but repaired gradually, and fibrous changes were developed on the retrodical tissue in the late stage. 4. Tissue changes were apparent in the injection group of high dosage of lipopolysaccharide rather than in the group of low dosage. 5. In the lipopolysaccharide injection group, lipid droplets did not observed in the retrodiscal tissue.
