영문 초록

From early on, Goryeo paid attention to music in terms of yeak (ritual music) to realize reconciliation and order. Therefore, based on this concept, the study on the musical institute which researched and conducted the performance of music is needed. Through the musical institute, Goryeo wanted to form a Confucius political culture. Goryeo pursued reconciliation and unity, an order that integrates all of the social classes. As its understanding on Confucius politics deepened, Goryeo focused on the value of music. It promoted the understanding of music by monographs, such as yegi, tongjon, and chaekbuwongu, and through interaction with China. In a music volume of samguksagi and Goryosa, the music of the Three Kingdoms and Goryeo was recorded respectively. As a result, the main trends of music formed to be aak, the music of China, and hyangak, the indigenous music since the Three-Kingdom period. By employing music in rituals, Goryeo reassured the formation of political authority of the royal court. In order to study and perform music, systematic support needs to exist. The performance of music is directly related to rituals. At Yebu, Songkyunkwan, or Chonuisa, not only was the ritual processes studied but also music suitable to each ritual. Chonakso or daeakso and gwanhyonpang were governmental organizations which were in charge of performing music and adjusting musical intervals. In addition, yolakwon was established in Seogyeong. The understanding and performance of the music of Goryeo involve the pursue of social order and the establishment of authority of the royal court. Furthermore, the creation of weights and measures by a deeper understanding of music influenced the social economic aspect. Thus, the music of Goryeo can be said to be used for realizing social security and harmony.
