이전기업의 고용창출효과에 대한 실증분석

국문 초록

고용창출의 방안으로써 지자체 간 기업유치의 경쟁은 나날이 치열해지고 있으며, 이를 동해 지역 간 기업의 이전은 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구는 충남으로 이전한 기업의 고용창출효과를 중심으로 이전(혹은 유치)기업의 지역경제 기여를 분석한다. 통계청의 자료를 이용해 이전기업과 기존 기업 간의 고용변화를 비교분석하는 이중격차모형의 결과에 따른면, 이전기업의 고용창출효과는 규모가 작은 기업에서 보다 크게 나타나며, 본사가 함께 이전하는 경우에 비해 분공장만 이전하는 경우 고용창출효과가 상대적으로 작은 것으로 나타난다. 이러한 결과들은 지자체의 기업유치정책관련 전략이 개선될 필요가 있음을 제시한다.

영문 초록

In order to create jobs, local governments' efforts to attract firms outside the region become more severe, and firms' relocation across the border of regions tends to be more frequent. This study analyzes relocating (or attracted) firms' contribution to the hosting region's economy mainly in terms of job-creation. According to the difference-in-differences estimation that compares employment change of relocating firms with that of non-relocating firms, relocating firms' job-creation effect appears to be relatively larger when the relocating firms are smaller, and compared with a plant's relocation together with its headquarter, relocation of a branch plant only seems to have a smaller effect on job-creation. These findings in1ply that the strategies related with local governments' firm-attraction policy needs to be changed at least in terms of job-creation.
