국문 초록

창의성은 메타인지의 이론과 개념을 통해 더 잘 설명될 수 있을 것이다. 이는 창의성이 복잡한 인지적 과정을 통해 발현되며, 이러한 복잡한 인지적 과정이 잘 인식되고 조절될 때 창의성이 보다 수월하게 표현될 것이라 예측할 수 있기 때문이다. 그러나 메타인지가 창의성의 인지적 과정에 미칠 수 있는 중요한 영향력에도 불구하고, 이에 관한 이론과 연구는 메타인지와 창의성의 관계를 명확하게 설명할 만큼 충분히 진전되지 않았다. 본 논문의 목적은 창의성 과 메타인지의 관계에 대한 이론적 설명과 현재까지 수행된 관련연구를 고찰하고, 이를 통해 창의성과 메타인지의 관계에 관한 앞으로의 연구방향을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 메타인지의 개념과 그 구성요소를 간략히 소개하였고, 이를 바탕으로 창의성과 메타인지의 관계에 관한 창의성 이론가들의 주요한 주장과 국․내외의 주요 관련 선행연구를 고찰하였으며, 앞으로 요청되는 후속 연구의 방향을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The phenomenon of creativity could be better explained through the theories and concepts of metacognition. It is because that creativity is manifested through the complex cognitive processes, and that the expression of creativity is predicted to be easier when those complex processes are well being aware of and regulated. However, in spite of critical influences of metacognition on creative thinking processes, the relevant theories and prior research have not been advanced fully enough to provide clear explanations about the relationship between creativity and metacognition. The purposes of the present article are to review some theoretical explanations and major research findings on the relationship between creativity and metacognition, and to propose needed future research directions based on the findings of the review. For these purposes, the current article first briefly introduced the concepts and components of metacognition, then reviewed the major arguments of creativity theorists and the relevant studies to date on the relationship between creativity and metacognition, and proposed the future research directions.
