국문 초록

본고는 화이트헤드의 과정철학과 과정철학의 교육적 시사점을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 화이트헤드는 근대세계관의 문제점을 비판하고 과정 중에 있는 실재, 유기체 개념을 중심으로 하는 과정철학을 대안으로 제시한다. 물론 화이트헤드의 과정철학에 기초한 교육철학을 논문 한편으로 정리할 수는 없다. 따라서 본고에서는 화이트헤드의 '파악' 개념을 중심으로 과정철학의 특징을 살펴보고 이것이 교육에 시사하는 바를 정리해 볼 것이다. 특히 파악 개념을 중심으로 보고자 하는 것은 파악이 과정철학의 핵심을 보여주는 그의 존재론이자 인식론적 설명이라고 보기 때문이다. 화이트헤드의 파악이론은 첫째, 인간을 포함한 모든 존재가 생성 중에 있다고 본다. 이것은 모든 것이 다른 것과의 연결(관계성)없이는 존립할 수 없음을 시사한다. 둘째, 파악이론은 기존의 철학이 감각지각(현시적 직접성)만을 지각의 전부로 고려한 것과 달리, 비감각적 지각(인과적 효과성)의 근원성을 역설한다. 셋째, 파악이론에 따르면, 모든 현실적 계기의 과정에는 물리적 극과 정신적 극 양극이 들어 있다. 이상의 화이트헤드철학은 다음과 같은 교육적 함의를 갖는다. 첫째, 인간과 인식(학습)과정의 관계성을 시사한다. 둘째, 인식의 과정에서 느낌의 시초성에 주목한다. 이것은 교육에서 느낌과 정서가 주를 이루는 낭만 단계의 중요성을 시사한다. 셋째, 과정철학은 몸을 경험 과정의 토대로서 이해한다. 이때 몸은 데카르트가 말하는 정신적 실체에 대비되는 것으로서 신체를 뜻하는 것이 아니라, 물리적 극과 정신적 극의 통일체를 뜻한다. 따라서 몸의 교육을 주장하는 것은 결국 전일적 유기체로서의 전인교육을 주장하는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate Whitehead's process philosophy and its implications to education. Of course, his enormous educational philosophy could not be arranged by only an article. I, therefore, will search for his process philosophy focusing on the theory of "Prehension". Seen in the light of process of prehension, first, every being including human being is in process of becoming. This means that everything cannot exist without relatedness to other things. Second, Whitehead emphasizes the role of non-sensuous perception(causal efficacy) in process of experience and its originality to presentational immediacy in making meaning process. Third, according to prehension theory, every process of actual occasions has its physical pole and mental pole. Process philosophy suggests the implications to education as follows. First, it emphasizes a relatedness of human beings and the process of knowing(learning). Second, Prehension theory, which considers physical feelings as a beginning point of prehension process has something important of romance in Whitehead's rhythm of education. Lastly, Process philosophy considers Mom as a basis of process of experiences. This suggests that Mom is aa important center in process of education. In this context Mom is not a physical body contrast to a mind but an unity of physical and mental pole. So Mom education means education for the whole man as an organism..
