This study examined the green tea intake, and associations between food and green tea preference of215 adults. All participants provided written informed consent. The questionnaire included the demographic characteristics(age, gender, and duration of education), green tea preference and the frequency of the recent consumption of green tea during the previous month. The BMI was calculated as the weight (in kg) divided by the height (in m) squared. The age distribution of the study participants was as follows: 38.5%, 34.0%, 13.5% and 14.0% were in their twenties, thirties, forties and fifties, respectively. 26% of subjects consumed an average of more than one cup per day. Overall, the mean score of green tea preference was 2.9 for men and 3.2 for women on a likert-type scale, ranging from 1 (extremely dislike) to 5 (extremely like). For males, a significant positive association was observed between the green tea preference and fish, shellfish, fruit and vegetables preference. There was a significantly negative association of the preference between eggs and pluses and green tea preference. The reason for drinking green tea was different among the age groups, and there was a relationship between the food preference and green tea preference. These results shows that green tea and food preference arerelated in males and there is a significant difference in green tea preference according to gender.
